Hey everyone, newb here. hoping to get some insight from those with more experience in this area. I’m looking at building a new garage to install a lift and allow room to work on my project car, I’m working with a low ceiling (about 7ft) 24x22 two car right now. My local zoning allows up to 800sqft and a 15ft height measured at the middle of the roof, obviously I’d love to build larger than 800sqft but after talking to the permit office and factoring my available “green space”, it sounds like 800sqft is going to be it. My question is this, would you build deeper or wider? (I was thinking a 26X32 with a minimum 10ft wall) is especially like to hear from people that have similar property zoning or lives in or near my area. Thank you in advance and I appreciate your input.

Welcome from a fellow WI resident!

So are you tearing down the current garage to build a new one?
Or adding on to what you have?
Pic of your current place would help.

Yep, tearing down, new slab, Bury over head wires and add gas line for heat. Can’t post pics due to my low post count right now but I’ll post as soon as I can.

I would go as narrow as you'll be comfortable with, so you end up with the largest area in the back.
