I am new to Garage Journal and I am here to learn all I can about the garage I was finally approved to build.

I was approved for 7000sq ft but I might do 6000 if it makes more sense. 60ft x100ft. I would do 70x100 if if affordable.

I am looking to learn about concrete, metal vs stick and what type of roof.

I know there are a few other Georgia people here and I would love to meet and pick their brain.

arfnsx hello and welcome aboard.

Congratualations on your build approval.

May I suggest you update your profile with your location as in future you may find that helps. Specially given this is a very global forum. Often you will find subjects may get different answers depending on locations and regulations.

As always, enjoy.

I am pretty new here too really. And am in the process of building my shop so I don't have a lot of advice to give you, but welcome to another GA. boy.

And I am envious of your shop to be. I think my 3k square foot shop is going to be awesome. I am not even sure what I would do with 6k, but it would be nice to figure out.:)

I have 15 cars and I have them housed all over Atlanta. I keep 6 in the garage and 2 out in front (our daily drivers)

I keep two at my office, some at my parents house and a few in the shop.

I have been wanting to do this garage for a while.

So where do I begin? I have questions about concrete, wood/stick or steel frame and design. What area should I be posting this in?

Thanks

Concrete should probably go in the flooring section and the rest in the General section.

FWIW I am a big fan of steel framing. Wood framing is hard to get big enough spaces for a real garage or shop. My shop is going to be 50 X 60 and one big open room which I couldn't do with wood.
