Hey there, i'm Erik. I just recently bought 5.5 acres last year and just now getting ready to start building. First to go up is a 30x48x12 pole barn. This will be my man cave/work shop for the car and future car projects. Once the shop is up I will start on building the house.

This site has given me lots of ideas for the shop, chomping at he bit to get started.

marsch: i see you've been a member for a few months now. any questions about how to use the forum just ask and we'll try to help if we can.

lots of pole barns in the garage gallery which i'm guessing you are reading now. also post questions or just make a post saying you like the guys or gals garage if you did so they know somebody is out there seeing their thread and cares. also helps motivate us with posts like that.

before you decide on size and if you ask about 98% of the time all members will say build as big as you can afford. also some lifts require 12.2 inch ceiling so if you might want one in your shop check and make the ceiling a bit taller to get full use out of that lift.

take care and welcome

Thats how I got started with this forum. Just stumbled on the garage gallery and spent hours looking/reading getting tons of ideas. The shop size I posted up earlier is about all I can afford. The concrete floor will have to wait a while. I do plan on starting my own build thread once I get materials ordered and delivered. I appreciate the hospitality and the welcome.

I do need to do some research to see if the prices I have been quoted is a good deal or can I find better.

Marsch: if you do start a thread in garage gallery might i suggest you post a lot of pictures and ask a lot of questions so your thread doesn't disappear in the maybe thousands of others. good pictures and good questions will always keep us interested. also if you read a part or all of a member's thread and you like what you read maybe make a quick post saying so because sometimes all a poster needs is a little something to keep them from sharing their wisdom if they think nobody is reading or hearing what they have to say.

here's a good thread and i think his pole barn cost was around $20,000 including cement floor. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257100&highlight=pole+puyallup

good luck and ask questions here if you need help with the forum and we'll try to help if we can
