The plan is to have them sit in the hole and just pull off when I need to get to them. Just haven't figured out how to keep them in place yet.

Have you thought about using magnets? Should be plentiful at any hardware store and would be a simple, clean install.

By the way, that room turned out great. I love the look and smell of cedar.

I've never thought of cedar for a finished room, great idea. Looks like it has a nice 'cabin' feel to it.


Do you work on the Nova at all?

It's about 15 x 22 the garage is 24 x 26. I am planning on getting some cheap luan doors like the others and cutting them in half and picture framing them with trim boards. The plan is to have them sit in the hole and just pull off when I need to get to them. Just haven't figured out how to keep them in place yet.

Why not just hinge them?

I could hinge them but there really wouldn't be a way to hide the "gaps" where the material meets the door and probably wouldn't look very good. If I trim the doors out I can cover the gaps and it would help with drafts also. I thought about using magnets or velcro even, kind of cheap but it should work. If not I'll just put some latches or something on there.

I do work on the Nova on occasion it has been about 3-4 months though. It needs the brakes plumbed, fuel system ran, wiring and then should be able to hear it run for the first time in many years. Here is how it sits now.

They come down at the same rate of speed up and down and just stop kind of abruptly like a normal garage door opener. These know where the limits are and begin slowing down 12 or so inches from the top and bottom. Just makes it nice and easy/ smooth when it stops.

I have to **** in here. Liftmasters do not slam down, they slow down before reaching top or bottom. Also comes WITH locks that throw after the doors closes, remote lights that can be put anywhere and a real nice opener pad control box along with nice small remotes for the car. I also would say they are a lot more quite that what I heard in the video.

I was referring to the commercial Liftmaster units not the residential, which is what it sounds like you are referring to. When we were having this discussion the Residential Liftmaster operators were not available.

I have not been around here for a while it was pretty neat reading my old garage thread! I have since sold the 65 Nova and now have the red convertible. If anyone is in the least bit interested
