New guy from NE Ohio

Hello all, I have lurked here for a few years and finally decided to post an intro. I spent 6 years in the USAF before working at the same company for over 35 years. I was very fortunate to be able to work so long at the same job as our 2 sons have both had several jobs already. I recently retired and am looking to build a garage. I built my own stick built garage over 40 years ago at our first house but it was 16' by 22' and I always wanted to build a bigger one. Unfortunately I was limited by space and time so it never happened. My wife and I moved last summer into a ranch to get away from the steps and now I have plenty of space. I would like to build a 30' by 40' by 12' 6" pole barn. The height is what I think I need for a 2 post lift. The development we moved to has an HOA and I think the garage needs to look like the house so would need vinyl siding and an asphalt roof. I think some pole barn builders aren't comfortable with that as they only know metal. If anyone has any suggestions for pole barn builders in the NE Ohio area or could steer me to the best forum here that would be great. I do live close to Middlefield, Ohio which has a big Amish population but don't have any experience with barn builders there.

Welcome to GJ, fellow Northeast Ohioan. Thanks for your service in the AF. My friend uses the Amish a lot (he has rental properties), and they seem to do quality work at a fair price.

I wouldn't be afraid of them doing your build. And if you pick them up everyday yourself you can save money. Or else they have to pay a driver like $150 a day to fetch them and their trailer. Trailer of tools usually gets left at the jobsite though, so it's not like you'd have to tow it everyday.
