Hi, My name is Steve. I came across this forum while looking for information on a vise bought today at a second hand store. Seemed like a really knowlegable group. I am in North Platte, Ne. I might be a collector, I don't mean to collect but seem to frequently come home with some old tool because it was a bargain. When I am not working on the railroad, I enjoy hunting and fishing, but mostly my bird dog Gus. I have a patient wife and two impatient daughters, the youngest started college this last year..
I needed a vise while back and found a Wilton in a thrift store. I knew nothing of vises, but recognized the quality, so I bought it for 8 bucks. It cleaned up real nice and I bolted to my work bench. I searched on ebay to see how good of a deal I had made and felt like I won the lottery.
Now todays vise was more of a pig in a poke. I could not find a manufacture or even a country of manufacture. The new vise seemed smooth and strong, so I believe it to be a quality vise.I was hoping someone on this forum might recognize it and provide me with a name of a manufacture. It has 3.5 inch jaws and opens to around 4 inches. From the round base there is a 1/2 inch bolt about 3 inches long, with a large wing nut. The only markings were 441A on the mounted portion and 441B on the moving piece.
