Hello all,
I joined this forum to hopefully get help with a project I am planning up. I'm a 25 year old ME. I currently rent a house with some friends but I am planning up what I want to be my permanent residence. I'm a DIY, gearhead, pilot, engineer, boating enthusiast, fabricator kind of person. I despise sitting around and being indoors and I spend most of my time either building things or playing with the things that I build. I will put this in a new thread for advise as well but for introductory purpose - I realized that what I want out of a home is primarily a garage, a place to wrench on and play with projects. The garage and land is my living room and all I really need is a place to prepare food and sleep.
I recognize that in time when I have a family that will to change to some extent. My plan is to purchase about 20 acres of land ideally out in the corn fields. I don't want anyone nearby. I'm going to build steel building to use as a hangar for my airplane with an apartment /loft for me to live in. I want the building to be large enough to fit my airplane as well as a two car shop space and plenty of room in the hangar portion for additional storage. It will have a 2000' grass strip eventually a pond and eventually I'll likely end up building an actual house when that time comes. I'm hoping that you all can give me some advise regarding the construction of the steel building and anything else
