Hello, the name is Mike and I recently found your site. I was looking up some vintage tool info when I stumbled upon your site. So here is my introduction post.
Like many of you, I spend a vast amount of my time in my garage. I bought the house a year and a half ago and I could’nt be happier. Pretty much our dream house. The downside I can see with my house is the one car garage, but I am ecstatic that after all these years I have my own garage. No working in the elements, having to hurry projects, or being able to start any long term projects. Down the road, I would like to add another garage, but I am in no hurry for that.
My garage is a work in progress as I have been using it predominantly for small projects. I have a ton of car tools but when I moved in I found myself replacing and constructing stuff for my house. At this point I realized I needed a whole new category of tools, and finding a new and progressivly obsessive hobby, carpentry. So my one car garage needs to function to support both my car wrenching hobby and my new carpentry hobby.
My two hobbies are already a tight fit for a small garage I have plans for an additional activity. I used to do professional photography and wanted to set up a mini studio as well. At the moment though my love of photography has taken a back seat.
Once the snow melts I plan on pulling the engine from my Nissan 350z to fix some issues that are stopping me from driving her since I owned the house. It literally has taken me this long to situate everything in my life. They say the first year of homeownership is the hardest and damn were they telling the truth. On a side note when I was stationed in Germany I brought back complete European spec parts from lights to bumpers to little interior parts and switches for both an E28 BMW and a W123 Mercedes, as well as a bunch of stuff for a MKII VW GTi. Maybe one day in the future I will get around to building them. Until then, my project is my 350Z.
I am at work at the moment, but I plan on loading up some images when I get home this afternoon. Thank you for reading and I am happy to be a new member in what looks like a great community.
