I've been a long time lurker and I finally joined a few days ago. This site has been very useful helping me decide on tools to work on my car; a 2004 Mercury Marauder, my house, and pretty much anything else I get the itch to fiddle with.
A quick, but hopefully interesting story about my great grandfather, he worked in Detroit for Cadillac in the late teens to the early 20's. While there as a machinist, he would take home broken tools in his lunch box. According to my mom, that wasn't enough of a thrill for him, so he started to "long term borrow" good tools. Well after a few years he had filled his garage with all sorts of tools from Cadillac, his neighbor noticed and word got out about what he had done. So he was fired from Cadillac, but he kept a lot of the tools. When he passed, my dad loaded his Ford van with the tools that the rest of the family didn't want and promptly stored them until he passed away. I have carried on the family tradition of storing a fair chunk of the tools. Some still have either my great grandfathers initials or Cadilliac stamped into them.
