Figured I’d introduce myself and this seems to be the place. I’m just an average joe that used to turn wrenches on my vehicles all the time in high school and afterwards since the older Chevy trucks I had seemed to be much easier to work on, but in reality I had no idea what I was doing most of the time and I still don’t. I moved over to the Toyota world in 2012 and have stuck with them since. That said, there are no good Toyota specific shops within 2 hours of me and I’ve grown tired of making long drives to pay others to do what I could have probably done myself if I had the correct tools, time, and space to do so. My fathers dream of having a larger shop finally became a reality recently so now I have a place to work on stuff, albeit without electricity for the time being. Looking to get some good tools soon starting with some of the more specialty stuff for working on my 2017 GX460 so I can start doing more of the work it needs.

Welcome to the forum from Southwestern California. I have owned two Toyotas and remember both of them fondly.

in the words of a former employer, who came from Texas, they were "Tough as a Boot".

Greetings from the cornfields of Iowa! Good group of folks here. I, too, built the shop that my father only dreamed of, but for woodworking instead of wrenching. Once again welcome! We do enjoy seeing pictures too.

so what will it take to get power to your place?

Right now the main focus is getting the house remodeled and getting everything moved from one house to the other so it’s just a matter of time.

Welcome. I like those gx460's a lot. Seems like they have quite a following
With the aftermarket growing for them they’re taking off fast in the offroad world. I got lucky and got it when it was just 3 years old with 60k miles for $28k after my 4Runner was totaled. It’s been my favorite Toyota vehicle so far.

I’m new here as well and I can’t wait to see what you do with that garage. I have several Jeeps to work on at any given time and I‘m incredibly jealous of that space.

Realistically, until I inherit the place it’s probably gonna be full of old farmall tractors and a couple newer John Deere tractors. If I’m lucky I’ll be able to squeeze a tool box in there with enough space to walk to and from it. We’ve got over 300 acres of ranch land and my dad has a tractor obsession lol. I was lucky enough to use the overhang last time I needed to work on my stuff.
