Been lurking here a while. I am Long time hot rodder that stumbled on this site. I am hugely impressed with all the different parts of this forum. It certainly has a wealth of knowledge and characters . Looking forward to seeing and learning more.

The area known as the Hi-Desert... Near the 29 Palms Marine Corps Base.

I grew up in Greene County, Arkansas, and came west via the Military Plan some 20+ years ago. I don't like cold weather so the desert suits me well about 10 months out of the year.

Joshua Tree or Yucca Valley ? or actually in the town of 29 palms?

Came west 20 years ago ? Stationed at 29 Palms I'd guess? I was there from March '88 til Aug '90 with 5/11.

I was never stationed at 29... just came out here to train. But this is where the job was when I got out about 15 years ago. I live in 29, the boom of artillery helps me sleep!

Artillery, King of the Battle. I was with an 8" SP howitzer battery, and that would be 204 lbs of high explosive going down range.
