I'm new here. I learned about this forum a couple of weeks ago and am so far addicted. I have a 30x40 workshop that I use for all of my auto, welding and wood projects (it was the first thing we built on our property). Most recently, we turned the back of it (about 400 sq ft) into an apartment of sorts and are using it as our primary residence while we get ready to build our home.

Hey tools,
I'm in north Texas also and I've been shopping for a 30x40 metal building. Did you build yourself or hire a contractor? Any recommendations?

Mine is wood frame. I had the slab done professionally, then hired a couple of local guys to build the frame, sheathing and roofing. I just didn't have the time to do it myself when we built it. I did all of the interior work, including a storage loft, electrical, full bath, living quarters, insulation and workbenches, myself.
I was going to go metal, but decided on wood instead. The price was comparable but I felt like wood would give me more flexibility in future upgrades.

Hi Barfy, Amarillo here. I bought a 30x40 Mueller Big Shop. Hired a concrete Guy for slab and drive and a crew to erect the building. I added 5 double glazed windows, two steel walk doors and a single remote garage door. Also added gutters and down sputs. I have sprayed on the foam insulation, and am very happy with the building. Also running a natural gas unit heater a swamp cooler, and a ceiling fan.

Bronson, Still happy with the 30x40 Mueller? I am looking at that same one. There's a short distance from their Bastrop outlet to my place. Thinking about adding a small bathroom so I don't have to go inside.

Did the Mueller building come with any info on what specific things that slab should have?

Steve
