Hello Garage Journal.

I've been lurking here a while and occasionally asking some questions. I can't thank you guys enough for the help you've provided. My garage and house projects have required me to learn basically everything from scratch, a lot of which I've learned here.

I'm a young guy without a ton of cash so I've been trying to do as much as I can myself. I was renovating my cruddy old garage at my house until it collapsed in a wind storm. Fast forward two years and I have a new garage up. I took this unfortunate event to start fresh and build a garage that makes sense as a workshop. Only 24x30, but for my budget I'm doing the best I can.

I work as a technical writer for a well known agricultural/construction equipment manufacturer. I'm sure it won't take you guys long to guess who. Wrenching on equipment, diagnostics, troubleshooting is my day job... building up a workshop is all new to me.

The goal is to put in a car lift, heater, and make it a great shop to fix anything. Bikes and cars, bikes and cars. (and some lawn mowers)

I'll get some pics up of the old garage and the new one.

Andy: sounds like a dream garage you are building to me cause i only get a 9x15 space to use in our 2 car garage.

if you need help posting pictures just ask and i just use the paperclip in the middle above where we write our posts to download pics like you would on an email sort of.

good luck with the space and if you work for John Deere or some other place you are able to say if you'd like to, but remember we are on the internet in case you want some privacy.

i'm almost an open book, but i still have my friends and members call me DRIVES or some form of my handle i picked that is my Ebay name from years ago.

My folks live 1 mile west on K. I live off dunkelow by the soccer park. My old man's clock shop is right near you on Roberts St.

I creeped on your profile and know right where you live! I may or may not rip down your road on my motorcycle on occasion...

Small world indeed. I know your dad. Years ago he was in a car club with me and some other locals. I stop in his shop once and while when I need clock work.
One of these days stop by and take a tour of the 'Haus, I have a few motorcycles and some unique cars.
I will shoot you a PM with my contact info.
