Hi guys, been a lurker on here for awhile and just joined. I've had my metal garage up for about 2 years now, just a small 24x28 with 10ft ceilings. I run a powder coating shop out of it as a part time thing. Mostly its my man cave.

I'm gonna need lots of help here soon as I went cheap and used the "car port" variety and its absolutely horrible but I'm stuck with it now and gotta make use of it the best I can.

First plan is to hang interior walls of some sort and insulate but I'm stuck on the most cost effective way of doing this with metal 2x2 uprights at 50" OC ??

Nice to see another coater join the gang! :D I kinda remember those "part time" days heh hehhhhhhhh ... now I just need clones to maybe help me catch up.

I've got a metal 30x40 and am VERY happy with the double bubble foil insulation, installed a few years ago after a tornado wiped out the south and west walls. At the same time reconstruction was going on, I also finally installed two window-type a/c units ... and that insulation (combined with a new covered work area on the south side) has made such a WORLD of difference in the shop that I've only turned those a/c units on twice since then. Even the 7-foot oven doesn't drive me out anymore.

Here's a couple pics to illustrate.

Here it is now ...

Thanks all! CudaChick where did you get your insulation from? Is it expensive?

I have almost the same oven setup in my shop! Things are slow around here, most people in my neck of the woods don't wanna pay for powder, they'd rather spray bomb everything...

I bought it at a building supply place and, if I remember right, it was $160 for a 6' wide roll that was about 3 feet in diameter. Without digging through invoices I can't remember how many rolls I bought -- 3 or 4? -- but it was enough for every wall, the entire ceiling, and two 10x8 roll up doors with enough left over to do some more.

As to the state of our economy, I've kind of carved out a specialized niche for myself with the multi-color work over the last 15 years but truth be told, if it wasn't for the internet I'd have starved ages ago ... "Wutz power coatin?" as the locals spit Skoal on my shoes  and even explaining the process prompts a reaction like I have three heads or something.
