Hey everyone, I kind of went about this backwards here. Posted a few things for sale prior to introducing myself. So I wanted to stop in and say hello.
My name is Ron, currently I'm living in southern New Jersey. I had the pleasure of living in Las Vegas for a little over a year..... Not quite sure why I ever came back to jersey..
Currently I'm employed at Phoenix Glass in Pittsgrove, NJ. My technical job title is maintenance mechanic... But they refer to me as the jack.... Jack of all.
My background includes almost anything I could get my hands on. In high school I had two years of welding and graduated top of the class while obtaining my AWS cert. I took two years of auto tech also, but concentrated mostly on fab work.
I worked for my stepdads construction business throughout high school and for a little after I graduated. I then got involved in the cable and satellite industry. I worked for all three major cable providers in my area... Comcast, direct tv, and dish network.
I enjoyed my time in that industry but gladly jumped into the electrical field. I worked for a small electrical contractor for a few months, then I got an offer to work for Durand glass as an industrial electrician. I worked for Durand for a little over 3 yrs, working with everything from 12,700 volts to 0-33vdc. I worked with some fiber optics and network infrastructure. I helped out in the mechanics department when they needed a hand or some welding done.
I left Durand and moved to Las Vegas...... Out there I worked in the entertainment industry and worked with a few local karting businesses. I got accepted to the Las Vegas metro police department, but sadly I was forced to relocate back home 13 days before my start date.
Upon moving back to NJ I became employed by Gerrsheimer glass. There I was an electronics technician, and dealt mostly with robotics and vision systems. I worked with some cutting end automation equipment, but they couldn't keep me out of the machine shop. I worked there for about a year, then I received an offer to head over to Comar plastics and work in the machine shop/mechanically shop/electrician. I finally got to work on the mills and lathes on a daily basis!! I worked there for a while, but decided to part ways shortly after. I then went to Phoenix glass and absolutely love it.... Well most of the time..
Here I get to play with a little bit of everything. My day usually consists of some welding, machining, electrical, mechanical, automation, purchasing, facility maintenance, pluming, carpentry, HVAC.... And everything else they need done. It's a bit overwhelming at times, but there's never a dull day. I get to travel to the occasional expo and conference, and travel for some offsite training.
I hold a decent amount of cents in a wide variety of things. Everything from Microsoft products to arc flash hazards, confined space, AWS, I'm license to operate all man lifts and forklifts.
I'm also a volunteer fire fighter in my city. There I have a few certs, but I can never have enough.
I'm an avid motorcyclist, and up until recently raced motocross. I spent a few years racing shifter karts, and was a driving instructor for new-comers.
I'm a strong second amendment supporter, and safely and responsibly enjoy all shooting sports.
