what's up everyone? great site. i'm a "backyard mechanic", working on 2 projects right now, an 86 mustang coupe and a 78 f350 supercab. i had a house fire a few years ago so i'm slowly replacing all my tools, lost about 25k worth. i had an assortment of craftsman, matco, snap on,etc. i've found that craftsman stuff pretty much ***** now, nothing like it used to be 25 years ago. i've been reading tons of posts here, lots of interesting reads. hopefully i can contribute to the board :)

Welcome aboard, John!

Now, the next step is to get some pics up to show us your garage space and cool old projects. Both of them sound great...old American stuff rules!

Sorry to hear about the fire...that must have been devastating. What caused it? What tools do you most need now, that you had before the fire?

i don't like any sports except drag racing :)

electrical fire. yeah it sucked pretty bad. me and my daughter were sleeping when it happened. i woke up just in time. another 5 minutes and i wouldn't be typing this. the first few weeks were tough, then you realize it's just stuff and it's replaceable. luckily we had good insurance.

here's what i'm working on.

Hi wecome aboard, very nice truck! sorry to hear about the fire and loss of tools. I have to start shopping for a new car seems that the folks at Toyota would not let me drive my truck( rusty frame). Dang it only had 77,000 miles after 11 years and now it will go to the junk yard!

All the best Woody.

I am a GM guy, but that big ol' Ford truck looks tough...I like it!

What's that in the garage, behind the Mustang? A Fox-body Fairmont?

yup, a 79 boxtop. i sold it a while back. love fairmonts but hard to find good body parts for them.

as far as tools- i have the basics covered-ratchets,sockets,screwdrivers,tq wrench, etc. also have the air tools covered, i use all IR. just bought another welder, still have to get an auto dark helmet. i'm just buying as i need them now.
