Joined recently for ideas. Hoping to get the wheels started on building a shop for myself here when I get everything together.
About me. Lifelong car guy, mechanic, welder, diy’er from South FL. I’ve worked for dealerships,independents, even a mobile mechanic in San Diego at one point. Did car exhaust, yacht exhaust, worked at a hot rod shop for a couple years.
Living in NC for about 10 years now between Asheville and Johnson city I’m looking to put a 30-40x50 garage on my property (almost 6 acres but it’s far from a level area in the mountains) to start doing side work and transition to doing my own thing when the opportunity presents itself. Welding,metal fab, auto work/resto is what I’m shooting for.
I’ve got the design mostly nailed down.
I’m going to need to deconstruct a barn before grading can get started, find a buyer for it hopefully.
I usually go for the do it once and do it right method, so suggestions will be greatly appreciated along the way.
