For your use, just go with craftsman pro line of tools. Widely available, reasonable price, warranty on hand tools is second only to a truck brand, and 10x nicer than any HF. Leaps and bounds beyond HF and makes HF look like the junk it really is. And it should be important to you that you are spending your good money here in the USA instead of sending it out of country. Plus, craftsman pro tools actually do have some re-sale value, as compared to HF you have to nearly give it away or whatever its worth in scrap.

Personally the majority of my tools are SnapOn but thats because I plan on using them every day. And 40 years from now when i retire I will still want to use them for my own personal projects.

take a look around your area, and see whats available.
availability is a huge issue for me.

i've been wrenching on const eq for 26 years, and been wrenching on my own stuff since '75.

granted most of my working tools came off a tool truck, most of my house tools are CM, SK, HF, duralast, gear wrench, IR, and some assorted truck brands.

they all do what they are 'spose to do.

buy the bst you can afford

In addition to those things ^, I still see the pro line of pry bars, combo wrenches, bench vice, ratcheting wrenches, impact sets, plier sets, retaining ring pliers, etc. still on the Craftsman site forsale?:headscrat

I am a MAC and Snap-on guy, but I really like genius tools.
They are a great buy for the money, and have a lifetime warranty.
They blow Crapsman out of the water in my humble opinion.

Well, finally ordered something i got the craftsman 154 pc. Mechanic tool set from sears.com for 108.24 tax included. Figure if i dont like something in the set i can always just buy another ratchet or what not, going to pick it up tomorrow the reaspn i went with cm is sears is 4 miles away and it was what i could afford right now, im going to start buying other tools as i see fit pliers channel lock my favorites screwdrivers thinking klien adj. Wrenches crescent and wrenches probably get gearwrench ratcheting and cm regulars. Thanks for all your advice guys i really appreciate it,starting all over again from a recent robbery, the deal breaker on this was sears being so close if need be for warranty short drive and ease of warranty once again thank you all.

Klein screwdrivers have really taken a **** recently. Check out Wiha and Wera, both good brands that shouldn't be any more expensive than Klein on Amazon.
