new guy.. new shop underway-thinkin vertical barn board interior

Hey all
Found this site about a week ago and am hooked.
I am very excited to be raising my new diggs..40 x 28 built to resemble a little ranch barn..half to park truck in, half to park/winter Harley and do a little jammin/poker/well you get the idea.
Any way I am closed in and working the interior and was thinking maybe some vertical barnboard. The walls are 9 feet so maybe something else for the first 3 feet (like steel or ply wood or ??) and board on the top.
Has any one done any barn board interior or seen such...is it left natural or stained or painted.
If any one can help thanks if not...well I shall just continue to enjoy all the other great stuff I am learning

I will be doing vertical in my shop. Haven't started putting it up yet, but the barn wood is in the shop. Good luck.
