I am a new member, but I have been a lurker for a long time. I have gotten a lot of information off of 11b's Craftsman Drill Press thread over the years and, since becoming a member, have made a couple posts to that thread.

I am considering starting a thread somewhat similar to 11b's DP thread about a specific CM DP ... the 1935 model. As a new guy I do NOT want to step on anybody's toes or do something that unintentionally offends some one ... or the rules (which I have read).

I have reached out to 11b via PM and told him what I was considering. I am waiting for an answer.

1. Does Admin have an objection to a thread such as I am proposing? It would be a very deep dive into JUST the 1935 CM DP. I don't want to blow up 11b's thread with a lot of material beyond the scope of his OP ... the overall history of CM DP's.

2. There is some information on 11b's thread relative to the 1935 DP. I would like to refer to and maybe copy that information to the thread I am proposing. Would that be OK ... or would it be considered double posting?

3. IF someone were to post something relative to the 1935 CM DP and I felt it would be a good addition to my thread"

a) If I got permission from the poster AND 11b ... could that post be copied in my proposed thread, or perhaps moved by admin?

Sorry if this sounds weird. As a new guy ... I don't what to step on anybody's toes.

Thanks

T.

Start it. Most of us are big boys here. You are not going to step on any toes posting something about your drill press, even if its similar thread to others.

Thanks for the reply.

Out of respect for all the work 11b has done, and also for the Admin of this site ... I'm going to hold off until I hear from them.

And then ... there is that troubling "most" word.

I might be a new guy here ... but this sure ain't my first rodeo.

Hello Ted and welcome to the site.

Bookmark this link

(and maybe this one too.)

As previously suggested, go for it. Please be sure to post LOTS of photos. (limit is 7 images per post, so it may require multiple posts for you to comprehensively visually convey to us your machinery.) ;)

WOW ... and I thought I was nutz about doing research!!!

My wife will sleep good tonight ... and maybe tomorrow night too!

I've been on the confuser & internet since back when if you had a "486" machine, you were hot stuff ... but I have NEVER used the "bookmark" function". Just what will this do?

Thank you for all the reading material.

EDIT ... You know, I don't think I'll be needing Admin after all. Probably just be better if I just lurk around a while.

Thanks for all the help!

T.

There are a more than a few of us here who are quite serious about tools and tool history.

The "bookmark" function is a quick way to get there, but once you figure out how to navigate around on the site, Private Lugnutz's "sticky" thread I referred you to is pretty easy to find.

Ted, not sure why I cant PM you back from our conversation. All I will say is that we have very different interpretations of what happened. Yes, how you post (even on other forums) does imapct how others react to you.

Wish you well, and hope to see other information you may have.

I thought I was pretty clear that the conversation was over. I closed it to avoid an argument on the internet.

I did NOT want to be dogged about something that happened on another forum ... a discussion that YOU weren't even a part of. I had NO contact with you ... at all.

And now ... you have come to a completely unrelated thread ... just to ... what? Dog me down some more?

To make you happy ... I will not post anything on this forum again. I am putting you on ignore.

Leave me alone. Please do not contact me again.
