Hello, all from central Indiana!
I've been lurking around this site for a few months now, and figured it's time to put in an intro. There are some very informative threads on here.
I've had my 21' x 25' detached garage for about 2 1/2 years now. I like to refer to it as a very spacious one-car with comfortable shop space.
The walls were bare studs and the ceiling was open rafters with no ventilation.
There is a 10' fiberglass-paneled overhead door with a traditional garage door opener (chain drive with the rail going to the center), a walk-in door on the corner facing the house, and one window on each of the other three sides.
The power is on a single 20 amp circuit with the breaker in the house, so the heaviest power tool I can run right now is my compound miter saw (as long as I power everything else down while I make the cut).
So far I have insulated the walls, paneled over that with 1/4" plywood, built a 13' x 31" D x 38" H heavily reinforced workbench (if a tornado hits-I'm getting under THAT), built a cabinet/stand for the beer fridge
, and have about 1/3 of the ceiling insulated and paneled (1/4" plywood again).
The walls and ceiling will be getting a thorough primer coat topped with the brightest gloss white I can find for light reflectivity.
HVAC consists of the window AC unit recently puchased-for a while, at least. I plan on installing an electric heat/AC wall unit when funds become available.
The shop will most likely become the favorite hangout once the mini-bar is built into the northwest corner, and a cable coax is run from the house for internet and general television or movie viewing.
I'll get some progress pics up when I can.
