Hi, guys.

My name is Bo, and I live in Central Texas. I've been a reader of the Garage Journal forum for a while now, soaking up ideas. My wife recently decided that we should consider building a detached workshop and workout studio at our home. To be honest, I think she just wants to finally be able to park her car in our existing attached garage.

Thanks for all of the info that I've picked up from you guys so far, and I look forward to talking with you all.

I understand perfectly. In fact, it's nice to park my daily driver in the garage as well. So, what are your plans for the workshop? What do you work on?

Something that seems to be left to the end is HVAC. Plan it up front. Same with insulation.

Concrete floors are not the best for exercising. Look for an "appropriate" covering, better than just carpeting.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. The project that we're working on planning out (as currently defined) is a 30'x60' workshop with a second floor workout space. The wife's one major request was that she get a sauna upstairs (which is actually easier and less expensive than I imagined).

The downstairs workshop would be about 2/3 woodworking space and 1/3 automotive/welding/metalworking. It's all hobby-level, but man, it sure would be nice to have a proper space to work on our many hobbies.
