well im practiclaly all done with the air lines i have 2 very small leaks to fix, i believe its my pressure safty valve(the one iwht the key ring on it) and a drain valve... damn i hate those threaded joints. will be fixing those tomorrow first thing. spent the whole day fighting leaks with the air filters, its kinda hard to have the hard lines go straight to the filters, should have picked up some rubber flex lines to go from the filters to the hard lines, but its done so forget it, until next time i have to service them. seams like a combo of tefflon tape and the great white sealant works great, put teflon on the male threads and great white on the female threads, but not too much great white, it makes a mess. me and my dad are still thinking about how were going to dry wall the garage, thinking about hidding the copper lines or pulling htem all out and slipping dry wall behind them. will post pics tomorrow cammera was full.

i used exactly 30 feet of copper probably wasted about 6 inches of it from little mistakes. will add more ball valves for shut off in the near future to make it easier to plug in hoses and make it safer to disconnect rather than having the hose shoot out(been hit in the eye at wrk b4). and also mostlikly change teh outside regulator, it constantly bleeds air to maintain regulated pressure, causing the compressor to cycle more often. eventually paint everything as well.but next onthe list is dry wall.

Looks good.

I've never used those ez sweat fitting...I looked at them, but just didn't see how they would "seal" the connection. I'm with your dad on this...as long as solder is still being "sucked" into the fitting...then the more the better...

Keep up the good work.

the last of my filters came in today and along with my goodyear 1/2x50ft hose from tool topia came in today.

well put in one of the sharpe 606a in tonight after school...
cut a short peice fo the 50ft hose and use a bras barb on the side i cut and a hose clamp. had a problem with the tight radius bend that the hose makes so i extended the hard line out ward about 5 inches from were it was and now i have a nice wide radius bend with no kinks. everything looks good no leaks on the hoses nor on the threades for the barbs but................. thers a leak on the sharpe regulator adn the stop valve...... check out the pictures..

heres how it looks

all 3 valves i got from sharpe are leaking so i have to replace them, also the filter closes to the compressor was leakign so i took it apart and put some gasket maker in there as i did with the regulators.

What the hell? Why are so many of these leaking? Keep us up to date. I wanted to get some of these someday...

Oh yea, you should have used a firepad or whatever they're called to avoid the burn marks.

the filters them selve are nice but the shut of valve at the regulator looks cheap, i replaced the one closes to my garage door with a 1/4 ball valve from home depot and also put soem gasket maker where the two metal 1/2s of the regulator meat and so far no problems, i did lose 20 psi over night but im sure it was cause of the 2 valves i have outside( sharpe valves) since they were leaking and also my pressure relief is still leaking.

Do you have valves setup so you can isolate certain segments? Might help you find the leak.

well after a few month of having the side between my house and my uncles house as my own little shop it has come to an end, uncle decided to sale the house, adn gave me 2 weeks to finish up wtih wat im doing on the side and have it all cleaned up. i spent lots of nights working till well pass sunrise to get things done. i was able to get 1 car finished or welli thought it was till i found out mtor we put in had a bad head gasket, and my red car in the back i didnt have time to finish jsut threw the motor back together to move it into my garage. well it was a good run, but now ive moved into the garage, and yes it looks like a garage, agian!

after a little over a week of sorting through **** and organizing more **** and throwing out even more ****, this is wat we were able to accomplish. still gotta organize the side with all my extra car ****.

If you run lines to the outside of building through the wall for the air intake and the exhaust part of your compressor....it will IMMENSELY reduce the noise inside the garage and house, all that's left for major noise then is vibration, and you have already taken care of that by lagging it to the concrete floor.

Personally I would have built a small 2x4 shed right beside the heat pump outside and put the entire compressor out there.

You should THANK your Uncle... he got you space in the garage for your stuff!...LOL I doubt your dad would have given it up from his Vette otherwise!!

thought baout putting compressor out side but dad didnt like the idea, maybe in the future if we end up upgrading the compressor to something to big to fit i can move it out side.

i will most likly move the intake filter out side but i t mgiht be too lound ofr the neighbors, i used the compresor alot at night, so thats kinda of iffy,

well even when my dad first got his vette my car was still in the garage but he kinda of got mad that it was taking me long.

i get them at costco by the gallon, used a whole gallon on the side, could have been conservative about it, but i didn thnk it would work that great.
thanx.

we don't have costco here in central missouri. i'll look at sam's. there might be a costco in KC or STL that i could get to on occasion.

The best degreaser I know of and swear by is... "Castrol Super Clean"...available just about anywhere.

It's about 25 x's stronger then "Simple Green"

http://www.autobarn.net/super-clean-1gallon.html <<<CLICK

This stuff full strength will remove undercoating from a cars underside..... I have never had a situation it wouldn't do the job.

ill have to try this stuff, i hope they have this at autozone, i got a friend that would score me one if so since he works there. do you guys use stuff like this in parts washers? i dont imagine so since u would have to rinse thouroughly after, but maybe some dont mind the rinse but i would.

Yes it requires a water rinse...but it's amazing how well this stuff works.

I usually spray it with a windex style spray bottle full strength... if deposits are really heavy I then spray it with air hose with a concentrated nozzle tip... then rinse with water. If I'm doing a really thick grease deposit thing like an engine block... I'll spray it down realy good with the Super Clean, then rub it down with a thick bristle brush or tooth brush before I hose it off... it leaves it looking like it was just hot tanked at a machine shop.

The only drawback I have found with this stuff is if you use it on unprotected aluminum, it leaves it all chalky white...almost like it etches the metal.

The big plus is it's 100% biodegadable and doesn't take any special storage or disposal...

When you get some.... clean your tires on your car the best you can with whatever it is you usually use...let them dry... then spray them down with the Super Clean... and watch an unbeleivable amount of grime roll off! It will be like you never cleaned them before. It has a bazillion good uses.

Careful some degreasers will oxidise alloys and send them all dull, try it on some thing you don’t give a sh*% about first.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned in previous post I did about using it on unprotected aluminum.

If the aluminum is clearcoated such as wheels etc... it will be fine..but unprotected aluminum it leaves it all chalky...almost like it etched the aluminum.

It seems like only windex in a gallon jug... but the stuff is powerful. Not sure what is will do for carbon deposits...you may have to let that soak a while.

Interested to know the results on the carbon deposits...let me know please.
