Having finished painting the inside of the house, the DW now wants the garage done.
My problem is the previous owner painted the floor with polyuretane enamel. The floor is quite smooth (good trowel job) and the paint comes off rather easily (scraping with razor knife and hot tires). I have been told that I will need to grind the floor in order to use some type of epoxy or similiar coating. Is this true?
I haven't tried, but I think power washing would more than likely remove the paint. If I can remove all the old paint, what more would I need to do in oreder to prep the floor for some type of coating.
If I can't remove the paint easily, I am think of using tiles (racedeck, swiss-trac, etc) instead of a coating.
The concern I have about using tiles is that the melting snow from the vehicles will seep beneath the tiles in winter and I don't know if this might cause any problems. The floor has a slope to the door so the runoff will eventually get to the outside.
So-there you have it! I welcome any and all suggestions, ideas, and free labor (Ha-Ha).
