Hey guys just thought i would make my first post and make myself known. Little background on me: 22 years old and working as a mechanic at a construction company (very large construction company) in south dakota (hence name) i went to school for diesel mechanics and i LOVE my job EVERY single day. I will be posting in the tools section so i will be upfront and say that i have MOSTLY Snap-On. Not a very big box (top or bottom, and mismatched colors. But i got a great deal on the top one) but i have convinced myself i will not buy another box until this is STUFFED. And then it will be my last and final tool box. Seems to be a trend around here to post pics of your box and tools so if you guys want me to do so you will have to wait until tomorrow night! Glad to be a part of the forum!

i would never say that it would be last and Final toolbox... because i did said that before, it made me switched few boxes from small to biggest snap on as combo triple bays boxes and few bottom boxes at my work (largest ford shop in state)...

Company had annual MSHA training today...7 hours of mind-numbing 'no ****?' stuff. At one point the guy tried to convince us you need to chock all equipment no matter how big or small on a mine site. Thats all fine and dandy but how the heck are you gonna chock a dozer?
@ scout driver- where are you located?
@ T56 Impala- I am actually in the smack dab middle of ALL of those in pierre, i have been to the one in Pierre, its ok but not great. My uncle worked out at ellsworth been there a few times. Been on the Sufu base a few times. Thats about it
@ woody 73- I have actually already gotten it but...its more of a neccessity thing than a sickness haha. I have to force myself to keep my Snap-on acct at around 1,000 bucks so that if i had to pay it off in a hurry i could. Very hard though

I'm an aviation history nut and well, I dig checking out the areas around old airfields. I have found a few pretty rare Plomb WF tools in local pawn shops. Thats why I asked. I've only passed through your state. Never had the time to shop around.

I'd love to see the stuff you work with. Guess I'm still a kid at heart. I love the MONSTER equipment used in mining!

Welcome! Yes, I thought I would only fill a couple tool boxes back in 1990. Now I have 7 at work, mostly small, beat up, bought used.

If you do turn into a tool junkie like a lot of us, do what I do & try to be non redundant in your purchase selections.

Yes i do. And i should clarify that alot of our stuff that is considered 'mining' is ABOVE ground so its not the HUGE haul trucks and such you might be thinking of. We do have the big payloaders, two haul trucks, excavators and some D9's. And i stopped by the shop today just to take pics for you guys so i hope you enjoy. And keep in mind, i am relatively young at this so please be gentle.

1/2 ratchet with two of my 1/4 ratchets

all 3/8 ratchets with wobbles in back. All my other extensions i actually have inbetween all my chrome sockets in the holders. kinda hard to see them.

all regular combination wrenches are snappy. The ones facing sideways are gearwrenches. Tougher than i expected.



This pliers rack is one of the better (cheaper) purchases i have made. After buying it i saw on here many different ways to do it cheaper but owell. Saved a ton of room in my box.

This is the best 'trouble' light i have. 46 LEDs on a magnetic swivel base and it is BRIGHT. Almost never gets in my way if you are smart about placement.

I figured id take this chance and show off what im working on at work. 3406E that had a massive leak on the engine. Turned out to be a cam seal leak thats just outside the block. So that ment tearing off all gears and the housing with it. First 3406E i have worked on and its a slow process, but thats the nice part about where im working now, no flat rate so they just want you to do it right the first time.
