First of all I'd like to say this is an awesome website! I've been lookin' around here for the last several weeks and I am very impressed with the garages I've seen here. I consider myself a garage nut like most of you. I thought I'd share my garage. My garage is 30 x 40. It has enough parking for 6 vehicles plus lawn equipment. Most of the time I only have 4 vehicles inside at one time. It is fully insulated, concrete floor is 4" with rebar ,moisture barrier and floor drains(front center bay is my wash bay)which connect and drain out the back of the garage foundation. I use 15 8' dual flourescent lights wired in 3 banks of 5 for lighting. The garage also has 6 standard light fixtures for regular lighting purposes. The garage has its own sub panel. I also have a 220 line which I use in the summer to power my airconditioner. Heating is supplied by a 75000 btu Modine cieling mounted natural gas unit. In the winter I keep the garage temp set to 50-55. If I'm going to work in the garage the heater raises the temp to 65 in about 15 minutes. When the garage/house was under construction,my Dad was having central air installed in his house. He gave me his old 18000 btu wall ac unit which is only several years old. I also have pull down stairs for my 8' x 40' attic storage area. The garage has wall mounted TV and scrub sink.
Future plans include a mid rise car lift, some more storage cabinets and getting my stereo and speakers wired up. I'd like to have the floor professionaly epoxy coated but the price ($2-3 a square foot) is not in the budget right now. The finance minister (wife) has not found this to be something I really 'need'.

That's a great idea!

Me too! It's a 12 hour drive for me to get there every August
