Hey guys this is my first post but I love the site!
Anyways today im here to ask those of you who work in a shop or run your own or what ever occupation you have, whats the worst or funniest instance youve had dealing with a new guy?
I started my job at a S*ars Auto Shop 8 months ago, and I went from new guy to a tech who gets respect from the higher up guys and is being promoted to bigger things! 8 months ago I had never touched a car! I did work in Hvac though. I am mechanically inclined as many of you here. Now I can do timing belts, suspension, you name it im willing to learn and do! But.... I find that im always being annoyed by the new guys. I get it, I was the new guy at one point! But they borrow tools and dont put them back, do things they dont know, and break those things that I or the other guys end up fixing, and some times dont show up for work! I never really had that issue starting out, so I dont get these guys! I like being easy on the new guys but the others dont! And sometimes even I get stern with them.A funny instance with them was when one guy we just hired, was arguing with one of our lead techs. He was getting so embarrassed that he asked the lead guy if he was ASE certified, trying to insult him. The lead guy at the time was not but had been wrenching for a long time, so he didnt care. However, yesterday he became ASE certified, and now we go around asking the new guy if HE is ASE certified! It can be a little cruel at times but to me its funny! Anyways, sorry if my post was too long, after all I am the new guy!
