So people need to be hurt or killed for it to be taken seriously?
LMFAO, with the current state of mind of a lot of people, even when 5 people died there are still people don't take any thing seriously.

As far as HF situation, I do give credit for them to Recall the Jacks due to safety concerns, . I still have those type of jacks and have no concern about using them. In fact it's standing my Jetta off the air for about 12 months now. No sign of failure. After dealing with this Channel Lock company on their warranty, I doubt they would Honor any **** even if their tools it fails right in front of their eyes. Now those type of companies would be on top of my ****-list..... yea you know what I mean.

I'm not comfortable with the small area of the base on those aluminum jack stands.

I'd rather use my 6 ton HF jack stands. Seriously. My stands weren't part of the recall, the welds are good and the teeth on the bar are solid. Probably no different than thousands of other jack stands in regular use.
Same concern... my floors are a bit uneven. I don't care if they are rated for 10T, that small base would have topple.

it's weird, seems like HF due away with all those type of older jack stands.. no 3 ton, 2 ton or 6 ton of that design.

You give them credit for something that they really didn't have a choice in? Let's be honest, no part of this was done to "be good". It's all a calculated business decision.

I am glad you are happy with your stands and that they haven't failed. I am happy to not have any HF stands, nor any of the style that were recalled

I do give them credit for owning up to some thing that is messed up. **** happens in life or business or just every day, it’s how you come to deal with it that differentiates you from being a man among cry babies. ( I am not going to mention who for past years)

meaning they could have make it difficult to do the returns and just issue the notice then ask for you to send it in by mail then issue and expiring credit, sales receipts etc. Lots of douching things they could have done, to make it difficult for the returns. Like my channel lock shitbag George. Just because I am an old fart I forgive, but won’t forget till I am senile.

I think what it comes down to is our interpretation of the "owning up" part. They're legally required to recall these items, so of course they have to! If they don't, they could face legal action or millions in fines.

They could have just cry about it :)

and like I said, make it difficult to return.

HF accepted returns of lots of stands that were not subject to the recall. Basically, they took anything that was the right color to be a HF jack stand. they didn't have to do that, but I'm sure it makes good sense for them to do so.

I’m looking forward to senility myself.

Doubling up is the smart thing to do when working, banging, wrenching under a 4-5K vehicle. One has to be extremely lucky to live to tell the tale of the falling vehicle that didn't get ya.

Because they had no way to confirm if it was subject to the recall or not.

There is no benevolence in their actions. It was a cost of doing business

Well, if you don’t like those, there is always these! Yeah, the ones they made out of steel and iron weren’t strong enough and got recalled. So now they have copied them in aluminum and gave them the same rating!?!?

Even with the subject of the product was confirmed ....

This story was experienced by me, aside from that Channel fluck experience.... I have their sears oil-less 16 gallon horizontal and 33 gallon vertical compressors (both made by DeVilbiss/Sanborn ). Let me just say this. They (DeVilbiss NOT Sears) did make it difficult to return/recalls in a douche bag way that makes me glad they are out of business... Not sears, but this OEM. First asking for receipt for a 2 year old /4 year old compressor..... yea. not going to happen. Second, requesting me to drive that bigger vertical compressor to a Sears at my expense.... third, scheduled appoint during the weekdays that I had to take off work, never showed up. thrice. Finally just send me a replacement plastic piece and I just replaced the "suspected" piece.. which is just some BS plastic. ( I did drive the 16 gallon one over, and they hold it for a month, but nothing was done to it.)

I don't recall any one was having issues returning at HF with that massive recall... maybe one or two princess I remember was fluffing on this forum about it here.

Like I said in post # 17 above. These aluminum one's would not instill confidence due to the way that aluminum fails when overloaded.

I trust their jacks because they are the only jacks I’ve ever used and have had good luck with them. Besides my old Craftsman Jack which I still have but don’t use anymore. For Jack stands I have Craftsman and then some homemade ones that were made by a old mechanic back in the 1960s out of Model T axle housings. Very durable and the ones that are complete have a pin in them even. He made them himself because he done everything on jacks and Jack stands.

I've noticed some newer stands, from different sellers, now incorporate a second lock or safety. Bet that's due to the HF issues. As I understand it, the jack stand didn't break, but the locks failed to seat in the notches fully and could slip down. Like this:
1624125612675.png1624125612675.pngCopied from the Home Depot site, but they all look similar, maybe identical.

Sure wish I had my old tall ones made from old Ford banjo axle housings!
