I read this on another

Interesting, there has been some uproar about HF not honoring the 20% coupon on compressors, generators, and esp tool boxes now. Now I see they're putting that in the fine print on this coupon.

I don't understand the floor jack thing....as if their floor jacks are "big ticket" items...also strange to see they're not excluding shop equipment like their gantry crane;

yea, all the store managers had a meeting in vegas 2 week ago, and that was one of the big kickers that my manager told us about. those items are not allowed 20% off anymore. also, there will be no returns on any items, exchange or refund, without a receipt. so, if you didnt get an esp and register it, you better keep and photo copy your receipt. also, the 30 day 100% customer satisfaction return period has to be enforced. corp has really tied our hands.

Has anyone seen /experienced problems yet?

They're, definitely, changing their return policy and the way they deal with the coupons. I experienced this personally, and their regional manager confirmed that some changes were coming. He wasn't too specific though.

I wonder how strict they should become before they lose customers. But there is a good thing that can be said about the changes: it may limit our gas spending, provide more leisure time and eliminate our urges to exchange DOA tool for another DOA one.

The coupon puts their tools in a price range where I will make the drive to their store, and purchase a lesser quality tool. Without the coupon, I will be more critical of their prices.

I have, at our Beechmont store. I went to buy the tool chest and they said as of the 8th of November you couldn't use the coupon. In fact they have signs post all over the store wherever the items are that you can't use the coupon for and at all registers.

I rarely shop there and all the free flashlight coupons don't cause me to make the trip. I do have a few things from HF. The bigger plastic cart is used all the time.

The inability of using the coupon only further cements my lack of desire to go back. That was the one thing that made me feel like I was getting a bargain on what I find are items of marginal quality. As I wrote above, I have some things from there that have been great...so I'm not just bashing here. It just seems to be more of a **** shoot than I am willing to bother with. My local HF is much further than many other places I could buy these things.

The only reason I buy from HF is the price, they aren't the best. A lot of stuff I bought broke or didn't work well, so it's getting to where I'd have been better off buying more quality from someone else anyway. If they become jerks or less competitive then I'll just stop buying from them. A lot of the time I buy because of the 20% discounts, that's why I bought the Gantry Crane. If they hadn't offered the discount I wouldn't have bought. Greed for more profit could sink their ship. Eastwood has some neat stuff as well as other companies, I buy from them too, may be buying more from other dealers too.

they will still have the 20% off but it is limited, like not good on tool boxes, and a few other items but still good on 96% of the rest of the store.

The local store has the "new policy" signs at the cash registers. I tried to use a free flashlight coupon, but they were conveniently out of flashlights. The coupons I have say no purchase required, but the "new policy" is that you can only use a free coupon with a qualified purchase - so I was going to start by testing that out before trying anything else.

I have free flashlight coupons and 20% off coupons that are good until March that don't have any of the "new policy" stuff on them. To me, that borders on bait and switch or false advertising if it doesn't completely cross the line.
