I wonder if anyone has seen these up close yet, but I noticed they are changing the site.

The 1/2 inch claims to be tested to 500ftlbs. From the graphic it appears to be a snap ring style ratchet.

The 3/8 looks different as well and boasts 200ftlbs

First Post to ya- I had one and I gave it away. It was 1/2" and it would switch directions randomly. Frustrating.
Thanks for all the info guys, I'll go introduce myself now.

mrholeshot took some lumps for his content here. My guess is that he got tired of it.

i must have the old style that comes with the 301 piece set. they look slightly different. there's nothing wrong with them. the 1/2 inch handle is a little small for my liking. i went out and bought a set of the round head swivel ratchets. i tend to reach for those first. i've never been a fan of the rubber/plastic handle but these are pretty sweet.

i really want a set of the round head ratchets with the thumb wheel that come with the 64 piece set. if someone had a set of those i would gladly trade my teardrop snap-on knock off's that came with the 301 piece set.

When orders are filling the piggybank you have money, happiness, confidence and motivation to make new and better things. Plus a few more positives we had once upon a time in the USA.

^^ nice photos above. I have all three ratchets. I use those so I don't have to put wear and tear on my better quality, soon to be rare USA-made ratchets. Not intended as a slam. I'm just practical. :D

tpolley, those are older I assume? I have these which are fairly recent. I must say, I like the looks of yours better.

Those are the older style in the Original post. That was the style before they came out with their "Pittsburgh Professional" line. Oddly, I don't see the new style "Pittsburgh Professional" ratchets listed online other than some of the green soft handled models. But those are mixed with the older red and black soft handled models. :headscrat:dunno:

I haven't been to HF for a few months but I need to grab a few things from there so I'll ask the manager what's going on next time I'm there.

The older style has the snap ring that holds the cover plate on. The new style has 2 screws that hold the cover plate on. Also the direction switch is different. The last time I saw the older style in the store was probbly around feb or march. They are all the new style now. I personally like and have the older style in 3/8. Wish I would have gotten the older snap ring style in 1/4 and 1/2 when I could have.
