New Harbor Freight Screwdrivers!

HF has some new screwdrivers I've never seen.

2 pairs of extra long ones, and 2 sets of electricians ones.

WOW! Those are some long screwdrivers. I have never needed one that long and I have no idea what it would be used for. Could someone enlighten me as to what a screwdriver that long would be used for?

They are called "cabinet" screwdrivers.

I surely thought they would issue a new line of screwdrivers under a new name like they did with the pliers, etc...

Their current offering of screwdrivers is overwhelming and confusing to say the least. Those long green ones sure do look nice! The longest I have are a pair of 12” Craftsman Pro’s. I may go and check these out!

I’ve got the two sets of electrical screwdrivers. Both are very nice. The standard set has blades that machined to a very nice quality tip that really works well when working with old motorcycle carbs

I work in industrial automation and have long screwdrivers to set sensors and adjust stops within equipment without having to tear into it to reach with normal (under 8") ones. Keeping the equipment together, I can easily set end stops and sensors to the correct positions the first time without guessing and doing an assembly and disassembly several times before it's right.

The red ones have metal caps and are strike through. The flat blade will make a good pry bar.

I seem to remember needing a long screwdriver when working on the engine cover on an Astro Van. Could be wrong.

In any case, I always seem to need long skinny or strong things to prod or poke stuff.

Awesome. Now why won't any set of damn screwdrivers cheaper than Gearwrench put a bolster on them? I love the Tekton handles and usually don't need a bolster but I don't want to maintain two who sets of drivers for when I do.

Vice grips solve that problem, and certainly at this price point.

I use a super long #2 phillips like that (24") to reach inside AC cabinets and undue component attachment screws. Makes swapping out parts alot easier by sticking the driver through wire bundles. I can do it with a normal length driver, but then your hand tends to get in the way of you seeing where the tip is at.

On the red striking cap set the PH driver is #4 size, so I'm not sure how practical it would be. But at that price I would lop off the tip and use it as a motorcycle axle drift. The flat head would be a good lite duty prybar/demo driver. I'll probably pick up a set.

Not to burst anyone's bubble but these are def. not new, I've had the long ones for general poking and prodding for at least a year and I've had the insulated ones for a home set for going on 2 years. I remember I bought them the summer before last when doing work on my garage. They're solid, they're wayyyy cheaper than Klein's and for home use they're great

The long screwdrivers act as a good stethoscope for finding top end engine noise, metal end where you think the noise might be and the other end to your ear. The metal goes all the way through the handle so it works great. I use them like this for checking out vehicles before purchase, they are well worth the purchase.

Got my hopes up that they released a new improved version but those have all been out for a while now.

I noticed that the Acetate handle ones are Taiwan made but no idea if they are any good at all

If you're working overhead, they come in real handy. A lot less arm and shoulder fatigue.

The long ones have been around at least a couple of years, only the color has changed. I have some old that are black and gray I think. If you work on a large variety of things, they're handy to have around. I don't remember specifically what I've used them on, but know I've used the phillips 2-3 times and it saved me from having to remove a lot of other stuff in order to use a shorter driver.

My old boss(General Contractor) was a cheapskate at times when it came to tools.He would buy those old blue handle HF screwdrivers,I was using one when the handle just crumbled in my hand,not to mention the tips were **** as well.Biggest POS screwdrivers ever.Would never even consider buying a HF screwdriver.
I just don't get all the hub bub over their screwdrivers......
