Just wanted to pass this along for those of you in the north east Georgia area. I was in Athens tonight and noticed that there is a brand new Harbor Freight store coming soon. It is behind the Chic-Fil-A next to Home Depot and across the street from Lowes and Wal-Mart. It looks like they are still finishing the inside of the store and should be stocking it soon. It looks like it will be bigger than the Lilburn store.

On another note, there is a ReTool store next to the Kroger (next to Home Depot). I went in there and they had a large selection of tools. There seemed to be a fair price on the truck brand tools and other tools that I saw...

do you know if this store ever opened? I am 20 min from that store instead of hour an half to lilburn. Thanks

Not yet. I was up there last week and it appeared they were just about finished with the inside. It probably wont be long now. I'm headed down to the Lilburn store tomorrow. The flyer I got in the mail had a coupon for a pair of 3 ton jack stands for $12...

HF hits the big time again - opening up next to the top two retailers in the country.

Might be worth going for some Evaporust!
I noticed that this month's Mother Earth News has a 20-percent off HF coupon in the back.

On the Athens store I noticed they keep running ads for a store manager. I assume they have not been able to fill the job causing the store to not open. I would imagine this is a sh^& job. People all day long bringing **** back and then all those 20% coupons lol.

I seen the ad for the $12 jack stands, but it will cost me $20 in gas to save $20. I am headed up to Athens Power Pro this weekend to pick up some parts was hoping they would be open.

I got lucky on the gas thing. My dad drove us down to Lilburn yesterday. That store was busy as hell. They had three cashiers and lines at each one. The store clerks were running around bringing stuff out of the back to fill orders the whole time we were there. I bought the pair of jackstands and some zip ties. My dad picked up some other consumables like cut off wheels and such. We also stopped by Northern Tool in Duluth. I picked up a roll of trailer wire to wire the lights on a 16 foot trialer I'm working on. Turned out to be a pretty good day spend with Dad, which doesn't happen as often as I would like...

I wonder if the 'famed' HF stench is something that is added to the interior paint? Or does that come later, after the store is stocked?

Looks like they are still looking for a store manager. Why don't one of you guys step up to the plate and take one for the team! lol

I think the smell comes over on the boat with the products!

Robert, any day with dad is a good day. Lilburn always seems to be wide *** open. Either get there when they open or play the excuse me game the whole time.

That is 5 minutes from my house. They are under the radar. I didn't know they were there.
I called the number on the website and there was no answer.
I called the Lilburn store and they stated the latest projection for the Athens store opening is November. :headscrat

Thats crazy. It looked to me like they didn't have a whole lot left other than to finish the cosmetics and start stocking the store...

I happened to be in that shopping center today. It appears that the space is just raw empty space (referred to as a "white box").
The HF sign is out front but there was no activity going on.

Yep. Same here. Rode past a week ago. Just a joke. This is the third store manager they are showing. Most be a tough job if you have not even opened and have canned 3 managers.

What's sad is that I could have that store ready to open in two weeks.
That is a high rent shopping center. They must not be paying any rent yet.

Same thing I was thinking. In the center of lowes, home depot, and walmart. They must have signed some sort of agreement not to pay until the store opens.

I ate at Chik-Fil-A Friday and stopped in to the HF. The only change from a month ago is that they have removed the entire concrete slab (by the looks of things they jack hammered around the perimeter instead of saw cutting).

I can't figure out why they would remove the entire slab. They could have trench cut if they needed to run any water lines.:headscrat

I was also told today that a Trader Joe's is going in next to Ashley Furniture.
I hope they aren't taking HF's spot.

Great price! I always use Lowes, I almost went into HD Friday since I was on that side of the street & I only needed a few soffits vents for my siding guy. I decided to go to Lowes because I find HD depressing.

Update on the Athens HF.
I was in that shopping center Friday and had a look inside the store.
They have repoured the slab and were running HVAC duct work.
There were several units (4' wide, 3' tall, 12' long) of cedar 1x8's on the floor. What do they use cedar for? Do they have a rustic decor in the new stores?

I believe they are close to opening. I was by there Tuesday and there was a lot of activity in the store. Trader Joes is opening in that same shopping center this morning.

That's the 4th HF store in GA that I know of. Seems like HF is strategically building stores around the state so that they're all over an hour's drive from me!:(

I went by there tonight. They have the store stocked with merchandise on the shelf. The lights were on and the store sign was lit. A hand-written note on the door said "opening soon" but didn't give a date. I imagine it wont be long. It appears larger than the store in Lilburn, Georgia.

What is funny is that HF had a several month head start on TJ's, TJ's was a much more difficult buildout/stock, and TJ's opened before HF.

I could have turned the HF store around fast and saved them some cash, maybe I should send them my resume'.:lol_hitti

From what I remember the TJ's location was the original location where HF was supposed go. The space that HF now occupies used to be a very good chineese buffet. The buffet place closed and HF moved the sign from the TJ's place to where it is now...

Yep. Sent the wife there yesterday to get me a 3/8" breaker bar for $6.39 (on sale w/ 20% off coupon).
She shops at that Kroger several times a week so I will give her a coupon and get an "on sale" item a couple times a week. I should be flush with free flashlights/gloves/screwrivers soon.
