I picked up the new harbor freight welding and fab table. It is not out on dispay yet and is just rolling out to stores. My local store got 2 in and the manager said he would go ahead and sell me one (the other is the display).

Seems well made. I run a level over mine and the top platform is straight. The top is preassembled to the frame, you just add the legs. It comes with little short benchtop legs and tall legs. Instead of using the adjustable solid feet it put casters so i could move it around the garage easy.

It includes 4 clamps, some different stops and v pads for pipe/tube welding so it doesnt roll around. Top is 3/16, wish it was at least 1/4 but will work for home out in the garage.

For 170.00 i thought it was a good purchase if you need a small welding table

I have been seeing those online. Looks pretty nice for price point.
Do you know if they are going to sell the fixturing clamps hold downs etc separately?
I think northern tool sells something similar and they offer the kit separate but just curious.

I dont know if the tooling will be available seperate.

I saw this on a youtube video a few weeks back and had been asking about it. The manager didnt know anything till it showed up on the truck. They dont have a spot for it in the store yet. So if interested ask as they might be in the back.

Maybe the tooling seperate will happen the same way

It's the same thing Northern Tool has sold for a while apparently.

The fixtures should be available via HF's spare parts line. I really wish they'd figure out how to sell stuff online, and singles for stuff like wrenches/sockets/etc..

The whole online thing. That way I would reduce the $200.00 worth of "impulse" that I always seem to walk out of the store with when I only went in there for one $20.00 item.

Looks like a nice table.

Man...my issue is I'm out of room for anything that has to sit on the floor.

Garage is full. Barn is full. Everything I get that has to take up floor space means I have to get rid of something currently taking up floor space. Bought a new (used) bandsaw. Old one had to go. Building a table style drum sander right now. Will require moving my steel storage to the barn loft (NOT IDEAL).

First world problems.

Again though...that is a decent looking table for the money, and would be VERY handy for me....if I had room.

As someone who toys with the idea of learning to weld, it seems like a decent option. Unfortunately, I have the same problem you do, minus the barn... ;)

I would smash that dainty little table in a heart beat!

My welding table cost less than half of that, has a 1/4" thick top an 2" pipe for legs. Granted, mine doesn't have jig holes drilled into it, but I just weld whatever I need right to the table a grind it off when done. It has served me well for 35 years.

Looks like a decent table for what it is. I bought one of the Langmuir overweight tables that they couldn't ship. Been very happy with it it was I think $550 or so plus a trip to San Diego.

just used the table last weekend to glue up and staple together a new drawer to hold nails. Its nice to be able to put something together that is square easily.

I realize that in the grand scheme of welding tables, there's not a huge difference between the $650 and $169 price tags of the two tables, but for a hobbyist, that is a big deal. I have a langmuir table and it is absolutely the bees knees for my uses, but it's definitely not portable, and definitely can't be hung on the wall!

I like the design other than the thin top. Mine is 1/2" and I really wouldn't want anything less than 3/8".

I suppose they had to do it to meet a price point.

Might be a good bench for mobile work.

I watched a YT video on these last weekend and was surprised to learn they were only 170. It would be more attractive to me if it came with casters, so I'll be passing on it, but it looks like I should be ideal for many people at that price point.

Check out the buildpro fixture point bench top table. yeah, it's more, but I'm assuming it's better than HF, Stronghand clamps have always been pretty nice in my opinion. I've not used the HF one though, it's not in stock at our local store yet. That or get the HF one and rig it this way.

Same thickness, half the size, twice the price. Doesn't seem like a deal in comparison.

I added the casters and was still under 200 but harbor freight needs to figure them in. It is not going for a professional or heavy duty weld set up but for the home hobbyist like myself it works great

I've welded up a few projects on it. I like the tabs you lock in the hole to push loose parts up against for alignment purposes. The clamps have been fine. It sits by my garage door and I have seen some rust spots appear on the top from humidity and moisture
Overall I think it's still a good deal for light home projects

How much of a PIA is is the need to install nuts from below to lock the provided clamps into position?

I don't have the Harbor Freight one, but the Vevor equivalent. I made my own clamps because Vevor doesn't include them, but it is less money.

At any rate, they only need to be hand tight. Once you start clamp something they will tighten themselves against the bottom of the table.
The only thing that is annoying sometimes is trying to use fixtures next to the frame. On mine, there isn't always enough room to turn the nuts, so you need to spin whatever fixtures your using if it has to be in that exact spot.

I have both the Harbor Freight one and the Northern Tool one, both are virtually the same, minus one distinct difference. The Northern Tool table top is welded to the frame, while the Harbor Freight one is attached to the frame with machine screws. Both are great deals for the money.

Haven't they come out with a style of clamp for these thinner tables that hook through from the top, rather than requiring a nut on the bottom? I just tried to search for them as I swear I have seen them but I came up empty.

Fireball tools has a video comparing this table to their five hundred dollar table. I was surprised that he said the HF table was a heck of a deal.

He demonstrated that the hook-on clamp shown below works a lot better on the HF table than the screw on ones it comes with.

I just bought my table on sale today for $149 and just ordered a 4 piece set of these hook on clamps. I also order M10x1.5 locking wheels.

Exactly what I was talking about. One of the biggest advantages of the hole style tables is speed, which you lose if you have to screw the clamp to the table from the bottom.

Thanks for this information! The fixture nut method was a big turnoff for me. Might have to reconsider now.
