Doug: welcome to the group. do you know what size garage you are planning on building? almost all the members on here will agree that you should build as big of a garage as you can afford or that is legally able to get a permit for.

good luck and post up some pictures of your land or dimensions of your new garage and maybe we can lend you some help and ideas.
