OK, so I am recently retired {35 years old}.

And I have a detached garage but it has become a huge mess of storage since I sold my business. Last week while trudging through the snow to my garage I thought, "man I would like to have a lift in my attached garage" and many times I have been working in my detached in the summer and though "man I wish I had air conditioning in here".

Well I cam up with a solution, I am going to put a lift in my attached garage! When I built the house I made sure I had high ceilings {although small doors 9wx8h} the celings are 13ft.

so I called the gentleman who has sold me lifts in the past and he gave me a price I could live with for a Forward dp10 lift {I like forward lifts for the money, they have treated us well}, $3300 delivered installed with tax included {he came a good distance to install it, I thought it was fair}...

So that is all installed the door guys are coming to install a wall mounted opener and high lift track next week, I am half way done running a 60a sub panel, I bought a 60 ga compressor, and I had a matched heat pump unit dropped off {won't install the outside unit until the snow is gone}.

The last thing I am going to do {should have been the first I know} is going to be to have the floor coated.

I have a central vac unit out there and hot and cold faucets, I am going to also install a hand sink later on too, just haven't nailed down where I am going to put it yet...

Does anyone have a similar setup to what I am doing? Any pics or good idea for something I am missing? thanks

Retired at 35? Looks like I am in the wrong business. I will never retire but work about 4 months of the year so no reason to retire. What kind of business?

If you stay on this forum very long you may have to up that panel in the future.

plenty of similar setups. Should find more than you can handle with the search box.

HVAC-r business. I still own my real estate company, employ 1 office manger, and it manages my rental properties, but I only spend about 3 hours a week dealing with business affairs...

Welcome to the Journal

I have had forwards before they always worked, it was what my guy recommended, I like the one handle lock release, I don't need anything super fancy, I was going to buy a mohawk 7K, and he said the forward would be half the price and do me as well as anything else on the market.. he said I could even buy one of them cheaper $1500 atlases, but I like the forward I guess, its all installed and seems to be really nice...

Is there something about forward I don't know? Did I over pay?
