New HF English Wheel

What the he!! is going on? Look a this new E-wheel. I'm thinking there has been a total shake-up at HF. They are actually starting to sell viable tools at reasonable prices.

This E-wheel is a "big" improvement over their other offerings.

I had a look at that mill at the weekend. Not bad for the money, but its development status borders on experimental - this is the statement of understanding to buy a Sieg KX-1 in the UK. Good luck with getting the level of support needed to get the thing to function if you buy it from Harbor Freight !

What can you cut with a 500 or 1000 watt spindle motor? 750 watts is normally 1 HP, but I don't know if they are talking funny watts or normal watts. I'm thinking the mill the shop has is like 5 hp, so we have to be talking shallow cuts on anything but aluminum.

Still, what a toy to have eh?

I talked to Augie at a couple of the York Cabin Fever shows before he passed away. Really nice guy and willing to talk about what he did and how he did it. Also really interested in talking to the younger generation to try to get them interested in such things.

His work would have been amazing at full scale, much less scale...

I have huge admiration for the model engineering guys, work on that scale baffles me. Nice to know he was keen to enthuse others, too

I haven't looked through the Craftsmanship Museum for a while - This model is astonishing
