I guess the last thread got deleted so whatever big **********/******* contest happened last time could we please not do that? I just wanted to inform people about something I thought they might want to hear about

So to word this plainly if you are going to just stomp your feet and loudly dismiss everything from HF for being junk or go into a huge asia vs usa ********** then please don't

as i said last time i am definitely in for for 3/8" once they show up at my store (none so far as of friday)

the picture could possibly be misleading... i'm assuming they will be like the flex heads just without the joint... hopefully my local store will have them this week when i go

I've got a couple HF ratchets that perform like they're supposed to. I ALWAYS grab them over my craftsman raised panels. Of course i like my Hazet best. Honestly I usually grab in this order: Hazet/stanley/HF/snap on/craftsman. They ALL turn the same bolt/nut. None of them fail except the craftsman I've replaced 3 times. They're all different lengths/flex so they have their spots. But in a wide open environment it's really just whatever I have closest. The HF are the composite and definitely the quietest. Amd all 3 sizes were like $27. Can't beat them if you're not taking apart rusted sea vessels

People are probably still hoping that the make a fixed (not flex) head ratchet that is long, but not that extendable version. Would probably sell well at the ~$15 price point.

I saw them the other night at my local Harbor Freight after reading the other thread that disappeared. They seem like nice quality, and that they'd do the job well. When dealing with my Craftsman flex head, I get annoyed because it will slip in and out of the flexed position easily for some reason.

What I liked about the Harbor Freight model is that it stayed where I wanted it and it did not seem "floppy". After a 20% off coupon, it would have been less than $15. I just didn't need one. I am not a big fan of the bulbous handle. I like the slim metal Craftsman style or the normal HF handle.

My local HF doesn't have the new ratchets yet as of yesterday

But they have a 72" toolbox that I am trying to get the lowest price since it has been sitting for awhile in the back of the store still crated up

OG, what do you like about the Stanley rachets? Very curious. Don't see Stanley mentioned much. Of course, Stanley is now also Proto/Blackhawk. Proto's have a long history of awesomeness. - Paul

If he has the same Stanley ratchet I do.... It's just a basic, functional smooth ratchet with a quick release.

Nothing exciting about it, and the head is a little large(to me anyway) but it certainly does the job.

I had a Stanley ratchet that I liked pretty well, but I don't know what happened to it. It was the "rotator" model that you can turn the drive end by twisting the handle. Maybe a little gimmicky, but I had it years ago before I owned power tools and the handle twist action was handy in a tight space.

The new HF ratchet looks nice, but I think I will pass. I already own one of the new style HF composite, and it looks like they are functionally identical except for the QR button. I know they all share the same internals, I mean as far as size and where I would use one.

The PNs in the OP picture don't come up on HF's site yet.

I expected something like this one:
