Yes, especially since my contractor said "no problem" when I laid out what I wanted, but now his door guy doesn't seem to have a clue about doing a combo high lift with horizontal inclined tracks.

The Liftmaster won't work with a Wayne Dalton torque master...you will have to change it out to a traditional type spring. I had a high lift conversion and new spring installed for $225.

Where are you all getting Garage door Guys to do the High Lift? I live in Central Florida north of Clearwater and I have been through 8 of them only one gave me a price 1K I laughed at him. I might just have to order the Kit and do it my self. This is Crazy they all told me they do them all of the time. Then they come out and they are Wow you cant do that. This is a residential door? What!!This is not rocket science? I just do not want to play with Torsion Springs. I just mioght have to learn!!

$900 to $1200 seems to be the going rate. r_egan's install for $225 is crazy cheap. I assume that does not include the actual Lifmaster screwjack. If it does, his installer just lost money...or deals in hot equipment. : ) And mine is a residential door (Wayne Dalton).

$1k and you asked for 8 of them, that's considered fair market pricing. Is it price gouging? probably but this is the main reason why we love this country, free market - supply and demand. This is where your DIY skill becomes beneficial.

Before I got mine done I was quoted anywhere from $2k - $2,500 to get both my doors converted to high track and liftmasters... complete BS.

Found a family owned business that did it all for about 1k. I thought this was a fair price considering they were there all day. Around here any mention of high track garage doors and they are automatically calling that commerical and trying to rip you off. It's a complete crock of ****. I don't mind companies making money but come on...jesus..lol This is one of the reasons I try to avoid main stream companies. Their overhead is either so high that they have to charge such a high price or they are just trying to make as much money off something that shouldn't be that high. Plus I like supporting the local smaller guy honestly. I feel like you get better customer service and you aren't dealing with the receptionist, who then passes you to the manager, who then asks the installers what happened who then passes it off on some other person..etc. Smaller companies, I talk to the owner and that's it. Problem, the owner takes care of the issues. So far so good!

One of the best mods done to the garage for sure... you don't realize how open the garage is once you do it!

My doors are getting done today. I'm at $2900 for 2 liftmasters, the gateway, two door keypads, 2- 8x8 Haas 2" door with r value of 17.**, and high lift tracks on both.

Price was cheap to what I was getting from others.

Just had the vendor convert three standard lift T16 Thermocraft 9 x 8 doors in a 12 foot ceiling situation.
Liftmaster 8500 jackshaft mount units -they are the successor to the 3500 series.
Springs, special pulleys, new jackshaft woodwork and labour.
Main reasons for having it installed rather than doing it myself - safety and warranty
Total cost $2700 CAN. Enjoyment - priceless.
