Found a link to this site a few weeks ago on Hotrodders.com. Great site. Although I spend way too much time here. I've seen some awesome garages here and gotten some good ideas.
I'm finally building a garage for my toys. The attached garage on the house is 24' x 26', but I ran out of room a long time ago. The new garage is 30' x 36' with a 12' x 24' office/storage area behind it. The main part of the garage is finished outside except for the doors. They should be here the first of next week. I got the storage area framed yesterday and hope to get the roof on this weekend.

Yes, its vinyl siding. I used a contractor for the garage and I'm building the addition on the back . The garage has 12' ceilings and I knew there was no way I could get the trusses up by myself. That and I know if I tried to build it all it would have taken forever. I do plan to finish the inside myself.

Love the shop. How 'bout some info/pics of the Fords? :D
Here's a pic of my almost finished current project. '86 LX with a 347.
Bret11.jpg

I've also got a '98 Cobra, a '97 F-150 4x4, an '89 LX project car that I want to make an open track car out of, and a '68 F-100 that I want to do a frame off resto on and drop in a big block.
I think my garage is gonna be about 1/2 the size it needs to be and my bank account is way too small for all my want to's. I keep buying vehicles but never seem to sell anything.

Looks good , do you have any pics of inside, I'm curious about the windows
Not many pics of the inside yet as I'm trying to get the outside finished up. The windows are Pella sliding 2x2's mounted two wide. The bottom of the windows are at 9'. I'll get light and ventilation, but curious eyes can't see in. A friend of mine did his this way and it worked out well.

Been a while since I posted any updates. The outside is finished except for the drive leading back to the garage. I'll try to get some pics posted this week.
Got the electrical rough in inspected today. Passed with no problems. Not bad for my first electrical project. I'm running a seperate 200 amp service to the garage. Meter base and panel are in and all wiring is done. Hopefully the elec. co-op will have power to the shop pretty soon.
I've been collecting stuff for the interior while waiting for the garage funds to build back up. Got a 9' base cabinet and countertop from a bank remodel for free (they were gonna toss it in the dumpster), 3 sheets of 4' x 10' matt black laminate for the countertops and 300 sq/ft of new carpet tiles for the office/storage area and a desk for the office-all free-left over from various projects at work. Now if I can just find somebody with an extra 2-post lift.:headscrat
Will be starting on the insulation/sheetrock this weekend. Hope to have some progress pics soon.

Nice garage and cars
Thanks. Checked out your vid at the strip. Nice looking '91. Best I've run in the coupe is 11.84@113.
On another note, just noticed how long its been since I've posted progress pics. Need to start taking some more. All the drywall is up and I've started mudding and taping. I do a pretty good job of it, but damn I'm slow. Got the office/storage area just about finished, but still need to do the main garage area. I've decided to go with the white metal for the ceilings. Screw it up to the truss and I'm done. After all the work on the walls, that will be a nice change.
Did I mention how much I hate finishing drywall.

Guess its time I posted some updated pics. This project has taken way longer than I expected, but I guess a lot of them do. I've just been plugging along as time and money allows. All of the drywall is up and painted on the walls. Still need to order the metal for the ceilings. Got the carpet down in the office/storage room. Built one workbench and refinished a second one. Working on some storage shelves.

Nice garage. How about some updated pics of the outside? Would like to see the garage doors as well as the outside of the building with the finished storage room.

Cheers!

Finally got my camera back. Thought I would post up some progress pics. Its been slow going, doing a little here and there as time and money permit. Metal ceiling is up, lights are up, compressor is wired and plumbed, ceiling fan installed and benches finished. Still need to finish the trim around the ceiling in the garage, put up a ceiling in the office, and do something with the floors.

Awesome ! Is it much more expansive to use the metal panel instead of drywall ?
The price for the metal is a little more, but I hate drywall work. Figured the metal would be a lot easier to hang than 5/8" drywall and once its up, its finished. No taping/mudding/painting and drywall dust everywhere. If I had to pay somebody to finish the drywall, I figure the metal worked out to be less $.
Oh yeah, did I mention I Hate finishing drywall.:lol_hitti
