Two of the best compliments It could get. :rocker:

Mike Lavallee was the creator of the 'TrueFire' airbrush technique. When I went to see him about my car he was excited to paint one of the new challengers. He asked me if I wanted TrueFire. I told him that I loved his work, but I'm not 18 anymore, it might be too much for my taste. He said, "Leave it to me, I know exactly what to do." He came up with 'MonoFire'. Blew me away when I picked up the car (it had about an extra 50 miles on the clock :ROFLMAO: )

John, Mike Lavallee was an amazing artist and I enjoyed watching him create pieces of TruFire art on cars, trucks, boats and helicopters. The speed he worked at was absolutely amazing. He left us too soon. You're never gonna part with that car, are you?

Bob, Mike made me feel like part of the Killer Paint family. He asked me to show my car as part of his best works that year. He also made sure it received recognition on TV in a Hot Rod Magazine episode about a custom truck he painted . He was very talented, and a good guy.
I don't plan to ever part with this car. (but there is a plan in place in the event of my death).

Trying to find more of the less-strenuous tasks around the shop. Decided to refurb my FIL's old Columbian vise. It was in good shape, paint had deteriorated and it was rusty. I cleaned it up, wire wheeled it, wiped it down with lacquer thinner and gave it a few coats of hammered paint. 20230718_123307.jpg20230721_144757.jpg

Between yardwork and dog time, doctor visits, eye surgeries and the recovery time, I've been able to spend a few hours a day 'putterin' in the shop. Got most of my machines hooked up to the DC system. got a lot of things organized and put away. Sold some things on FBMP. Still not back to normal energy level, but I'm trying to keep moving. Some pics.

I haven't done much in the shop to post about. Just organizing, adjusting things to my liking. Mostly been doing yard work when I have the energy. This year's storms left me a lot of clean-up, luckily no damage. Trying to re-energize right now after a couple of months dealing with a health issue and surgery for my wife. I'm proud of how she has handled the whole thing. She's recovering and should be back to work soon.

Thanks guys, for even remembering me. I'm wiped out. This whole ordeal showed me how 'alone' we are since moving to Florida five years ago. At least Linda had her pickleball ladies to chat with occasionally. When she can retire in two years we're probably heading north, closer to families and old friends to spend our 'twilight years'.

Nice to see an update TF, hope things get better and your wife continues to heal up. I've thought about moving somewhere else but I never give it serious consideration for the reason you mention. Sorry to hear you may be moving again in the near future.

John, I remember suggesting to my mom that she get a place in Arizona after she retired. Her response was " Why would I move?; all my friends are here."
PD, when I built my 40x90 shop on Whidbey my father was dying of dementia, so I planned the extra 40x20 for a future studio apartment for my Mom. After Dad died I asked her to move to Washington. She gave me the same answer as your Mom. Most of her friends had already passed, but she still wouldn't budge.

Linda's family is in Cleveland, OH. My brother is in Pittsburgh. My closest friend since HS is in Cincinnati. And one of my buddies from way back is in Indianapolis. We're going to start our search around the Columbus, OH area. Everyone will be within about a two to three hour drive.

I was looking around the shop this afternoon and realizing what an undertaking it's going to be to pack and move all this ****.

I’m real sorry to hear about the health issues John, I truly hope both of you get better soon my friend.

You bring up an interesting point and something that never crossed my mind until recently. The wife was out of state for (of all things) medical treatments and I had to go to New Mexico for a week. My office in their infinite wisdom decided to ship me a couple computers to my home in Prescott without scheduling it with me. It wasn't until that moment I realized I don't any real buddies up here I could just call and ask them to go grab'em for me.

I know Scott or Ryan would in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the fact they're 2-3hrs away so I was a little Fd on this one. My only saving grace was these were for the local jail we just built that's five minutes from the house. So I called one of the Sgt's there who I work with all the time and asked him if he'd do me a huge favor SINCE they just happen to be for him anyhow ;).

I wonder what the neighbors thought when a cruiser pulled up and he grabbed the packages off the porch :D
