I've always lurked, admiring all the great projects and tons of space some of the members have here. If all goes well, I'll have two garages to call my own at the end of the month.

A little about me: Just moved back to Kentucky in 2013 after serving an awesome 6 years in the Air Force. I've got a Life Support/ Combat Rescue background, which has afforded me some pretty cool experiences. After being stationed in Japan for a couple years, I went out to Mojave (right outside of Los Angeles) for 4 years. Always had a garage there, but it was never my own. I own a wheel refinishing and importing business and also manage operations for Amazon.com's photography studio here. Both are really good gigs. I am a sucker for vintage motorcycles, nice european cars, carpentry, and metalworking. Surely not too different than most folks here.

I'm closing on a house at the end of the month with an attached 2 car, and detached 3 car garage. It'll be a huge upgrade from sharing a 2 car garage with a roommate the past few years. I'll be sure to get more photos up, but here's what I have on hand:

Appreciate it guys! It'll be nice to dedicate the attached for daily needs and the detached for just about everything else.

Any tips you wish someone would have told you before moving into this much garage space?

I have more questions than answers.
Nice!

Seal the floor

Get your air lines, lighting and power upgrades done before moving anything in. Don't forget the dust collection as well.

Then cabinets and shelving.

Then everything else and enjoy.

Almost forgot to get ready to drain the bank account adding new tools and equipment.

I lucked out and there's already plenty of power ran through the ceiling and the lighting looks to be have been used for mechanic work. It also looks like there's a small concrete pad on the back side of the garage with a cutout in the roof that may have been to keep the compressor outside.

Plans are to convert one of the detached bays into a cordoned off area for soda/media blasting, polishing, and to house a powdercoating oven. I've got most of the big tools already, but I am sure there's more I'll need. :)

Welcome and thank you for your service! Having spent some time in Mojave, I"m sure you're much happier where you are now! Enjoy the new garage! My advice, plan before you start moving stuff in, much easier to fix issues then.
