So I am a new member, joined mainly for ideas and information on flooring options for the new garages we are building as part of our new home construction. Looks like a cool place to hang out with a lot of information on more than just garages! We are 2 weeks from closing but I will catch you up with a few pictures and postings.

Beware...being a member on this forum can be very, very expensive. It starts with flooring and quickly moves to storage, wall coverings, lighting, etc and so on.

Good luck!

All i wanted to do was build a workbench when i found this forum. Then came lighting, insulation, drywall, paint, etc. Now Im looking at building cabinets, shelving, hanging pegboard and installing a Racedeck floor. This place is killing me!

So, here is the first picture I have showing the detached garage being framed.

Here is the 2 car attached garage the day before concrete. You can see the corrugated pipe we are using for the gutter down spouts. (400 ft of pipe used in all)

Detached garage renamed "Monster Garage" this will make since later, it is definitely not a monster compared to some of the garages on this forum.

The wife's truck in her "monster garage". The truck is a 2008- Chevy 2500 crew cab diesel with a 6 inch lift kit and 35 inch tires. It is 7' 4" tall and we had to put an 8 foot door on the garage. This is very uncommon around here and really confused our builder for some reason.

it was built to fit the truck and nothing else...a couple of things impacted the size and placement. The house was already "dried in" when we bought it, so we could not adjust the size of the attached garage or door height. The wife was adamant that her ride needed a home, with all the subdivision restrictions and setback line requirements that was as big as it could be and stay in compliance. The right side of the garage is on the setback line. I agree it does look stuffed in there but the door closes and mama is happy....

As new homes keep getting larger and larger, so too has the trend toward designing new garages to accommodate more (and bigger) vehicles as well as a host of storage needs. Garage design has started receiving more attention than it used to.
