I saw a new tool box at Home Depot that I haven't seen before. It was black with silver/chrome drawers. It was only $399 for both the top and bottom together. 41.5" wide.
Ball bearing slides. None of the drawers were reinforced on the bottom.

It looks nearly identical to a box that Sams Club has been selling off and on. That box is called Steel Glide, it's manufactured by CSPS. Did it say where the box is made? The last couple of CSPS boxes I've seen said they were made in Vietnam. I picked up one of the Sams boxes on closeout. It was marked down to about $150.00 because it had a small dent in the back. It's a good box, a bit light duty but I wanted it for some light weight tools I have that don't get used very often.

Box said made in China. You paid $150 for the top AND bottom? That's pretty cheap. How is it holding up?

Bchee, Yes I paid $150.00 for both pieces. I got really lucky getting it for that price. We don't go to Sam's often because it's a long drive from here. We just happened to stop in that day and there in their closeout section was the box sitting there. The regular price on it said it was around $300.00. Then they had another price that said it was a marked down display model that was being sold because it was the last one, I think it was $250.00. Then there was a third markdown because of a very small dent in the back of the bottom cabinet and that brought it down to about $150.00. It's holding up well. It probably compares to the Craftsman ball bearing tool chests in terms of quality, actually a little thicker skins I think. It's got nice ball bearing slides on it that seem to work well. I see that Sams is starting to sell that same one again. If you have a Sams near you go take a look at it. If you aren't a member they will probably give you a one time guest pass. I looked but I don't see it on their website.
Funny story to go along with buying that box though. The reason I was in Bowling Green KY, where our Sams's Club is, was because I had to go have a root canal done. The dentist had some trouble on it because of some stubborn roots, it hurt like heck and took forever. He told me to take it easy for a couple days, don't lift anything for a day or two. My wife wanted to stop at Sams and I felt bad but I figured I'd feel just as bad at some so I said what the heck, lets go. So here I am a half hour later buying a large tool box! I felt miserable and was afraid to try to lift that tool chest into the car by myself but it was lunch time and all their extra help was off for lunch. So for about 45 minutes I rolled that tool chest around the store with me while we did our shopping. Needless to say I got a good chance to test the casters on it!

the dimensions can be seen in the 2nd pict.
41" wide by 18" deep.

I loaded a 41" box into the back of a pathfinder several yrs ago by myself. I took all the drawers out, put the box in, then put the drawers back in. Even the empty box without drawers was still pretty heavy.

Looking at those boxes I suspect they are the same maker as a set I just picked up cheap damaged. I got them from the guy that bought them new a couple months ago, tipped them over... and sold them to me for about nothing.
I then called 'Husky' from the number in the box. Told them I needed a couple slides, didn't say why. They called the manufacturer and I received the slides in the mail. The envelope was from Stanley.
By the way, they didn't charge me for the parts. Second time I have bought used Husky boxes, both times I was able to get parts for free, no questions asked from their hot line.
Don't care for the quality of these newest Husky boxes, about like the lightest Craftsman, but the service is first rate.
My super tall 6 drawer Husky box made about a year ago is way stronger. It looks like Waterloo made it, just based on markings and slides. Way heavier than the latest crop.

i know this is old, but thought i would share. i recently broke a slide on my 3-4 year old red bottom husky box, called them up and they send me one. now, they sent me one for the curent model and it didnt fit. but it looks like the curent model is from waterloo. i looked up the slide part numbers on the net and it let me back to stanly. it looks like my old box was made by stanly and the new ones are made by waterloo.

just a fyi.

Depends on the box. The better ones are Waterloo, the cheap ones are Stanely. Been that way for about 5 years based on the five or six boxes I have bought and sold in the last couple years.
The new cheap ones are made by someone else, but I don't deal with those, not worth reselling, so no interest.

well they dont list the box on the site, but when i went and picked up another last week it was there 41" 11dr box that normally sells for 500 was on sale for 300. when i ran the partnumers off the box they all came back with stuff from waterloo. and when i had them send me replacement slide for my new box from husky, the box that came was from waterloo. so i would say that the new black ones are waterloo. now my few year old 41" one is a stanly.
heres a pic of both.

I know been through the run around. I finally spoke too a humanbeing at stanley tools in CONN. who helped me obtain the correct tool box pieces i needed, going by the model number on the inside of the left hand side draw. The old boxes were made in canada they were red. the new thinner sheet metal black ones are the pits!!!!! P S i'm still looking for a old 41"husky roller to fit under the top box, haven't found anything yet!

I scored a pretty good top and bottom for 500 lately. Can you post the number? I need to get keys for it and was wondering where I could get service.
