I know this may be a bit of an aside but I'll risk posting it here anyway. I dislike how they removed the knurling on the HF sockets, at least on some of them. Looking at the 3/8 shallow set the Metric set has knurling, however the SAE set does not. I for one really wanted to buy some with the knurling but both Tekton and GW don't offer it, and now Icon is hit or miss?

Most manufacturers only put knurling on their metric sockets. However, I believe Dewalt puts it on both metric & SAE.

Why? Is that supposed to be so you can easily differentiate between them? I find myself often rotating a bolt from the socket pretty often and feel like the knurling would make a world of difference. I suppose if I sucked it up and started using power tools more often it would be a bit of a moot point.

That’s exactly why they knurl them. It has little to nothing to do with grip and functionality.

I pretty much use nothing but metric these days so, it's a win-win for me and knurling.

if you want ergonomic features on sockets then you got go euro or some taiwan .
I do prefer some knurling but have found satin or half satin useful .

Possible fix for lack of socket knurling could be using a quick spinner.

Knurling is dumb because it makes life much harder when try to clean the tools. You can literally add 10 years of age to a tool if it has knurling.

You can take out the gut of a failed ratchet. There's a spinner right there

did you seriously just say this? you may not like knurling but that doesn't make it dumb and i have no idea how 10 years can be added to the life of a tool because it has knurling.
