Glad it worked out for you, I don't k ow a single person who has gotten approved for more than 2500. Synchrony told me on the phone they don't approve anyone for more than that until after they use it a bunch. I teresting

Either way, hope you enjoy it and I hope you don't have any delays that change your due date! Happy hunting.
I got a synchrony bank store branded card (not HF) credit card for $5000. I have good credit, but I have no idea why they wouldn’t approve for more than 2500.

Yeah, I have a whole bunch as well for different things. Probably 20-30k worth, all paid off and current, they wouldn't budge on the 2500 limit for HF. Strange

Personally, I’d find a used snap-on box on Craigslist for a similar or lesser price and cancel the order.

In theory, sure. In practice, try and find a used 73" snap on box with a power drawer, a hutch and side cabinet for less than 5000 .I don't think that is just lying around. In my area, 73 inch box is 35-4000 without a power drawer. And of course, figure a way to transport it

Gotta say, the number of people who have been able to buy their used snap on boxes for a handshake, ham sandwich and a bag of hockey pucks is quite refreshing.

If I had a nickel for every time someone jumped into a toolbox thread and said "just buy a used Snap On box...", I'd be able to afford a NEW Snap On box!

;)

Good for you OP. Congrats on the new box. The icons look great and all the features make them a good value. Hope to pick me up one later in the year after I move. Review and photos once you get it will be appreciated.

Point of clarification, I (the op) actually returned my order due to logistical issues and needing something sooner. I bought a tool vault, and posted a long form review of it already :)

Hope the guy who did order it enjoys it though

Whoops not following the thread from the beginning.
My point is if you get an icon and are willing to wait you will undoubtedly get a good box at a great price. If you choose to buy a used box good for you also. Im looking forward to purchasing an icon later this year.

I agree. Certainly for higher level home use, the icon is a solid buy. Pro use, genuinely don't know. But I do think there is some value there!

Yeah Icon box is a fair buy if get 20 to 30% off current lower pricing and need home delivery and box size layout works for you .
Plenty other options and more so if don't need a box shipped .
My main concern would be long term support of parts, other issue is current range of boxes is pretty limited, really need add a 28" or 30" depth, expand range/add-ons and have a basic drawer layout option at small extra charge .
Like most things HF the energy goes into marketing dribble not the market desires and product finer details .

I think the issue with used boxes is everyone states snapon when you far better looking for Matco and Mac and just add in snapon in case you luck out on a good deal .
Is a fair amount of used boxes around if make constant effort look, are prepared and equipped to travel/collect quickly and got hard cash .
I never had buy a new truck box in over 30 years and currently my autoshop and home barn boxes are all used and I flipped lot of used boxes along the way .

Oops, I don't post here often and the forums I frequent move very quckly. 3 weeks is damn near ancient! :p

I also hope I don't run into any delivery or damage issues. Can't imagine if one part comes dented, then I'll have to wait another 2-3 months for a replacement.

Now that I'm reading this thread, I'm surprised I got the approval. I didn't even think about it while standing at the register. However, I'd say even if you can't get the full amount approved, 0% interest for the entire term is a great deal too. Anything 0% interest is pretty much a no brainer to take advantage of.

Personally, I’d find a used snap-on box on Craigslist for a similar or lesser price and cancel the order.

I was specifically looking for one with a hutch. Not a ton out there. Would have loved if the US General 72" had them.

Extreme Tools and Tool Vault have them but:
- DX Extreme line is only 21" deep.
- RX Extreme line was a major contender. All in, was about same as Icon price but Icon surprisingly had slightly better specs. Plus the close-by in-store support/accessories/July 4th discount won out.
- Tool Vault 30" is $8K with everything I want
- Tool Vault 25" is perfect, but the hutch opens up and back ~4 inches so it is effectively 30". I don't have enough garage space.

Ended up with the Icon. I'm hardly even a weekend warrior but I have a ton of tools over the years and I like to keep them organized. I do basic automotive work and home renovations. This thing will last me forever. Do I need it? Of course not.

Plus I can hop over to any of the 5 close Harbor Freights around me to pick up accessories.

Here's the wife looking very uninterested as I was talking to the HF employee about buying it haha (56" set pictured, but with the same side locker). The ventilated side locker supporting a mini fridge was the kicker for the wife. Now I can get my drinks out of the kitchen fridge so more room for her stuff!

I guess I got mine at the right time, whenever they had that 30% discount last year. Took 2 weeks for delivery. If Strictly Toolboxes would've offered a red box I would've went that route, no questions.

I have 0 complaints with mine, it just sits in the garage.

Yeah, my guess is that supply issues that started last year came to a head this year and made it really bad.

That's where ya lost me, same outfit does Amazon cards & they're a complete ***********. They even make paying the damn bill a PITA. I about reached the limit of my patience making the first payment. The second month they didn't send a bill until it was already overdue. I was actually thinking of just telling them to go **** themselves. Ended up paying it off & cancelled the card after one use.
Ditto. I'd never purposefully sign on to that company. I had a Sony Capital One card for years and they switched to Synchrony and all hell broke loose with payments and them trying to ding me with fees. Within a couple months I called them to pay off the account and close it. The CSR asked why I was closing and I told him because their bank ***** and he snickered lol. Its pretty obvious their goal was to vacuum up as many brands as possible at cheaper rates to represent those brands at the expense of services. Their customer service rating is pretty well in the toilet.

Little tid bit on the Synchrony credit card point. I just bought a couple couches at Ashley Furniture (~$2500) and was approved for a Synchrony card with over $8k limit. The salesman was flabergasted that it was that much and said most people only get approved for $2500. Not sure what the deal is with that. This was the first time I ever heard about Synchrony credit cards. I thought it was going to be in house Ashley Furniture credit. My credit score is only in the very low 700s. We got 0% for 48 months. I was very interested to see the card is accepted at thousands of other locations after doing research on it after the fact. I downloaded the app. Registered my account. It shows current balance. Big payment button front and center. No payment due for 30 days. This will get paid off in a couple months. Not sure how I became an outlier.

He have 8 synchrony cards, and I have close to 70k in credit available between all of them. Most of these are/were one time use cards

Synchrony is becoming a bit more loose with credit over the years, but it really seem to be a function of "if you are a moderately good customer, you are way better than our usual pool of applicants, have the max available for whatever you are buying). Furniture cards are usually maxed at7 k unless you reach out and discuss it with them

I have always found their system to be very straight forward!
