Long time reader, first time poster. Anyways I figured I would post a "mini-review" of the newest tool I got delivered. Its the newest impact wrench that DeWalt is offering, the DCF899. Let's not get it confused with the older DCF889. The main reason I chose this particular model was that I already have tools in DeWalt's 20v line, and don't want to worry about carrying around several different style batteries, and chargers.

First impression when I pulled it out of the box was that it was big but very well ergonomically designed. So of course I wanted to test out the new toy. I threw in a battery(not sure of charge left), ran outside and went straight to the lug nuts. The last time these were put on the were blasted on with a Snap-On 1/2" pneumatic impact. The DCF899 took one straight off, no struggle. Now I didn't have any means to do a real "torque-test", but I did proceed by trying to tighten the rest. It turned them pretty good, but I wasn't trying to beat up the tool I just got delivered 15 minutes beforehand, so it was only a long second I was holding the trigger down. If I get a chance to do a good stress test, I will.

My overall first impression, is that would definitely recommend this tool to anybody. #DCF899forthedub

Pictures to come soon.

This gun intrigues me, I am obsessed with cordless stuff though lol. I haven't had any dewalt warranty issues in the past but I wonder how easy there process is if there is a problem of it being trashed in the warranty period. I am also surprised they don't go the Milwaukee 5 year route just to be the same and not let that be a selling point

I have never had a problem with any of their power tools either. I just figured I'd throw a thumbs up the tools way because the only review I could was of a Russian guy. I don't speak Russian,:lol_hitti lol. So I was just going off written reviews that I feel the guys who give them are way too nice and dont want say a tool *****.

the availability of battery operated 1/2" impacts with over 1,000 ft lbs of break loose torque still boggles my mind. I remember when that level of power was only available on 3/4" heavy duty air impacts. Now you can keep it in your trunk to zip off lug nuts on the side of the road if needed.

Sometimes the relentless march of technology really does make our lives easier.
