So yesterday my trusty Craftsman 1/2 drive 19.2 volt heavy duty impact began making screeching noises from the motor.Sounds like a dry bearing. Anyway it is well worn but still does the job, although the battery seems to be losing it's strength.So after nosing about I came across this. Rigid Gen5x Brushless impact wrench at Home Depo.This is within my price range and was wondering if anyone has any experience using this tool.For the price with a 4 AH battery and charger it seems like a good deal.Thanks, Ken

How much do you use it?
I'm moving from my C3 stuff to Milwaukee because they have a long-term platform for the batteries that isn't likely to go away on a whim like house-brands of the home-improvement stores and they have such an awesome range of tools on their platform.
More $$, but I'm happy - the FUEL impacts are really great (have 1/4" Surge, 1/2" Stubby and 1/2" High Torque - I got a little carried away...). I thought Sears would be safer than the other house-brands, but oh well.

I've got a model R86011 that I'm very happy with. I'd say it delivers more torque than the two or three different company purchased corded models I used back in the '80s. No where near as powerful a decent pneumatic.
I have the older version of the 1/2 I have used for the past 3 years to do aircraft tires. Have the new M12 3/8 and the new Ridgid one. Both work great I like the Ridgid 3/8 one better but only because it's bigger and I have larger batteries for the 18v

My c3 impact is sparking alot and the light flickers and i love it but i was often wanting more power so i was hunting around the web and also considering the rigid but i seems there are huge issues regenerating rigid tools for warranty. I found a video from sema and the hart is 350 ftlbs. The dewalt 20 volt high torque impact is $250 at Home Depot and i got a gift card and cash so i had enough Christmas money to get the dewalt. Thinking im going to sell my c3 stuff and switch everything to dewalt

My neighbor has one, and hasn’t had any issues. When we work on stuff together, it seems as stout as anything else.
If I was starting out, I’d seriously consider the Ridgid platform.
It also depends on what you do, Milwaukee has a lot of mechanics tools. If you do more mechanic work, that may be a good platform long term. But then again things like their ratchets are M12 not M18.

I'm in the Craftsman V20 line (though that may change) so I'm familiar with that impact and the C3 1/2 inch before it from Sears. The Rigid is a pretty nice step up and I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed. However, we use the Milwaukee impacts at work now and if I jump ship it would most likely be to Milwaukee. And a big part of that is because of their auto impacts. Stubby, Mid torque and High torque are just awesome. And with Milwaukee they have so many other tools that Rigid wouldn't have which is something to consider. I'm loving their saws now too. If Rigid offers what you need though, I think you'd be really happy.
You could ch3ck out the. New line up of Hart cordless coming to Wal-Mart. Made by TRI. Migh5 be a decent alternative .

The pros swear by Milwaukee.
For the occasional user I would opt for whatever is on sale. You should be able to find a couple options around $100 with battery and charger.

If all you’re looking to get is the impact then the Ridgid should do you just fine.
But if you are thinking of picking up other cordless tools make sure you check out what the other brands offer. It’s not cost effective to have multiple battery platforms.
It seems like it's mostly registration problems that people have with the warranty on Ridgid. Buying Ridgid at Home Depot is the easiest to register you can put in the transaction number from your receipt on the Ridgid website. I have also got stuff from CPO outlet but have a send the receipt registered mail and it took longer to show up on their website for the LSA. On the batteries you just called 800 number have a charger and the battery when you call they'll go through some troubleshooting and then send you a new batteries. If you have a problem with the tool and I think this is another issue people have is that some of the authorized repair centers are not close to them. The longest I've had a tool in for service was about 2 weeks. The only other time it was longer than that was a older drill and they sent me a new one.

This is basically an updated version oh the Cman you have. $99 if you can find it. Ryobi offers over 100 tools that utilize this 18V battery. It's 300 ft lbs. The one you have is probably 200 or 300 ft lbs.

I believe it's either 200 or 250 if you have the high-capacity LiON battery in it.
