Hey all. New to the forum, from Tucson,AZ. I’ve been doing a lot of reading. Looking to build a 30x40x12 garage with two 10x10 doors and a single 36x80 man door. The concrete slab I’ll take care of. Been leaning towards a metal building but after talking to my mortgage guy he tells me block gives me 4xs the value.
Haven’t had any chance to get estimates but it’s in the near future. What are your opinions?

Welcome from AZ.
I think your mortgage guy is full of it, if he thinks a block build will be worth 4x the value of steel in the future.
Only build that may have additional value is to match your home.
Any build will have large negative return on investment. Your property value may go up 20% of what you spend, or even next to nothing.

My suggestion is to do lots of homework and get lots of quotes. It's a lot of work. Go talk to people who have nearby construction projects going and get references for subs. Pull all records, easements, ROWs, and study building requirements, setbacks and limitations. You may be surprised at what you find. This forum is a great resource so your off to a good start. Good luck.

That’s what I was thinking. I’m working on a combination of block, stucco, stick and metal quotes as we speak.
