Dave these are in my 2007-2008 Matco catalog......wouldn't they have been available for a while now ?
Maybe there was a delay for some reason and are just now available ?
If these are just available now then it seem like Matco is kind of late to the party as everbody has had these out for many years.
Snap On's have been discontinued for years, they last apeared in the 2003 catalog #700. Does anybody know why Snap On discontinued them ?

I have The exact same one by Mac and it is nothing too special to me.
It just seems kind of bulky and clumsy to use especially with only 30 teeth.
I got it because they were the only indexable ones with a flex handle....at least as far as I know.
I am not saying it is junk or anything like that.......just If you compare it to the Snap On F872MP it feels awkward while the snappy feels like a well balanced precision instrument.
Grainger had the Proto version model # 55257FL on clearance for $18.68 when I checked last month along with all the other Proto indexable ratchets and some others.
I just checked and they are all out of the flex handle one now.
I though about buying some just to sell as they were so cheap.
If you want one try your local Grainger , or there are some brand new cheap on ebay.

Yes the snappy round heads were similar ....but not the same.
The forward/reverse disk is allmost flat and the heads are exactly the same as there current round head ratchets.
From just looking at the pics of the new Matco indexible, the snappy apears to be a bit longer from the pivot to the drive which would give you more offset.
The snappys were 72 tooth as well, (60 for the 1/4 Drive) .
The snappy's had 17 positions , these new Matco ones have 11 and the MAC/Proto had 24.

Snappy did offer other versions as well.
There was the Blue Point style pictured above.
The also offered the indexable (multi position) ratchet with the regular pear shaped head and it was 36 teeth just like the other ratchets.
The handle was exactly the same as the round head but the pear head had about a 1/2" longer offset.

I would like to compare the new Matco to the snappy.
It looks like a nice ratchet,and I would like to check out how there index works.
I think the best part is that they are made in the USA !
