Didn't see it coming whatsoever. Not going to change Irwin much other than they will have something in most major retailers that doesn't look like the others. The price will turn most away.

Just guessing, but I doubt you'll find these at a big box hardware store. More likely a trades distribution channel. Looks impressive.

Nice very neat! I wonder how long until Home depot, Lowes, etc. get a shipment of them in? I will be waiting...

I like those comfort grips a lot actually, they are a very pleasing color design.

According to the video advertising .. ;);)

... it would seem that NWS, is copying, Irwins, design and build quality .. :headscrat

... someone really should send those "electrical contractors" an enlightening, e-mail ..

Will be interesting to see what they retail for down here ... as Irwin stockists are a lot more common than NWS stockists.

I'm hoping for similiar prices to this ... http://www.bunnings.com.au/plier-set-nws-3pce-775_p6010452

Sorry to be skeptical, but do you really trust Irwin?

Good news that the new pliers are NOT coming from china. However, if they're priced similar to NWS, wouldn't you rather support the original manufacturer than Irwin, who has done much to destroy American jobs by sending product manufacturing to china?

If the German made pliers sell well for Irwin I'll bet that in a year or so we'll see new chinese versions of the pliers under the Irwin label. Build goodwill with a quality product made in a country that doesn't abuse its people, environment and workers and move the production to a place like china.

I would have imagined that they would ever go to Germany for this, but that is great! I'll be keeping an eye out for them.

Ill buy these. But lets see how long they keep them as their supplier. Eventually they will make a copy of them and get china to produce them for a higher margin.

I see this as a good thing. Irwin is able to use their superior distribution channels to move NWS' superior product. It should be a good thing for NWS, Irwin, and the consumer. If they're available at a good price i would absolutely support this by buying some.

Just because NWS has agreed to stamp Irwin's name on their product doesn't mean Irwin has any rights to their designs or other IP. Of course crazier things have happened, and Irwin probably has more legal firepower than NWS in the US and China if it comes down to an extended legal battle. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

I agree but all they have to do is change the design ever so slightly so it doesn't infringe on their design. And they will fight to the death in court over it. Irwin guaranteed has more money and better lawyers. If were lucky they will avoid all this and just keep them as their supplier.

Why aren't they available on Irwin's Germany website?
Seems odd they arent selling them in the COO.
Possible agreement with manufacturer?

People on GJ maybe but for the common person Irwin has brand recognition, NWS does not. They also still manufacture drill bits, taps and dies, twist sockets, and im sure other things in the states as well.

Also, when the big box stores have them on sale, the price will not be beat. Also much easier to take back for a warranty issue.

I see your point, but devil's advocate here, I think it is also important to put our money where our mouths are and show support for manufacturers when they offer high quality tools. I bought the US made Tekton slip joint pliers as soon as they were available, first Tekton tools I've ever bought. If these manufacturers test the waters by offering a few US (or German) made tools and they don't sell, they'll just stick to Chinese production.

But on the other hand if we do and sales boom. They see all they money coming in and they get greedy. They find a way to make them cheaper and they make even more money. Im not saying this is gonna happen but irwin doesn't have the best history of importing tools that were previously made in the states.

Where are they going to sell those pliers at? They're probably too expensive for Lowes or Home Depot to stock them.

I agree with Honcho. I doubt any of the former vise grip factory workers in Nebraska will be buying any either.

I really don't see what you people are getting so excited about.

Uhhhhh, It's a case of more GOOD tools being introduced to the market rather than the ****** dreck that most big box stores, and especially HF carry and sell.

This is a tool site last time I checked. And I, like many others here like, buy and use good f*(&^%$ tools. Price, in many cases, be damned.

I'd love to see these in North America, but if the Lowes/knipex experience didn't teach anyone anything, then the fail cycle shall repeat.

I wonder if Lowe's indeed will be carrying them since they started carrying Irwin. By the way I heard that the reason for carrying Irwin is because they bought out Osh and Osh carried Irwin. Not sure how true that is but here it is .

Are you saying Lowes bought out Orchards Supply Hardware?
